You didn't answer my question. Obviously the need water and sunlight, but how do you harvest them?
I'm sorry but ive never played the game before and there's no tutorial for farming. How do you know when the plantings are done growing? Do you have to do something to for instance, get the wheat into your inventory?

Once wheat is fully frown, just hit it like you would tall grass. It'll drop 1 wheat, and usually 1-2 seeds.
