I've seen a lot of videos on youtube about the new Xbox version of minecraft, and it looks similar to 1.5 in my opinion. So is it really worth it? Is the game worth another 20 bucks just to get it on xbox?
-Daniel
Depends on how much you play xbox. If you have friends and a mic, I think its worth it. If you don't play xbox that much and your pc has good specs and can run MC well, then save your money and watch more videos later to determine whether or not to get it.
Well i find theres is for me atleast alot of pros and one big fast ass con..... I love the way it feels and plays out and the fact that i have no possible way of cheating stops me from doing things with cheats. Which i must say is quite fun, before this i hadn't played legit for a long time. Also the fact that my friends can actually play over live with me now rocks. I just love the feel to it. Now.... for the big thing that still has me pissed which might or might not be a problem for you is you need a hdtv to play splitscreen.
But if that is not a big feature to you and or you have a hdtv id recomend it.
I do have a great pc, and a great tv. It's just that most of my friends on xbox plays the pc version aswell. I don't think I will buy it as I look at it atm. Maybe in the future
Well, for one thing, if your computer can't run or can barely run, I'd recommend the 360 version posthaste. Any Minecraft is better than no minecraft, especially since, small map side aside, it's basically Beta 1.6.6 (With the promise of bringing it up to par with the PC)
HOWEVER
The biggest problem is that it is indeed an older version of Minecraft. Some may not view it as a bad thing, but jumping back nearly a year in dev time is a bit...shaking. That and the small mapsize might turn you off on it. Hopefully those are patched and expanded.
There is a Demo you can check out. That is what i did first. Then i sat on it for a few hours before making the purchase. I have Both Pc and XBLA versions. I did'nt start playing the Pc version until 1.8. It's really an amazing game and it continues to grow! As it will grow on Xbox as well. Its a mere 1600 MSPs what do ya have to lose?
Don't worry about the world size, try not to compair it to the PC version, most people like my self on the PC version just ran in one direction & ended up with daft shaped maps lol.
The Map is perfectly fine for 8 players all to have there own area to work in & still crap loads to mine & explore. I create seeds & map them out with screen shot of the map & it takes ages to get the full map :(, at one point I wanted a cheat to fill the map.
Pros:
8 player online, & not server configs just start & play.
Silky smooth frame rate.
Amazing crafting system. (extremely easy to use, don't think I can go back to PC version now)
Play on a huge TV
Splitscreen if you have some form of playing in 720p (PC monitor, HDTV)
Play on the couch (my fav part)
Cons:
Old version Beta 1.6.6
Old Beta bugs
The odd crash
Limited worlds (but I don't care, some do & in my opinion there more than adequate)
Moving at 2 blocks a second, from one side of the map to the other, if the map was flat with no water.
1000 / 2 = 500 / 60 = 8.33333333 - so 8 minutes & 33 seconds to cross, but the map is never all flat with no water.
I like it just for the fact its easy play muliplayer with friends. Though I used to run a server for pc mc for my friends, but not everyone has that freedom.

I have both PC and xbox versions. To me, the two versions feel very different. I;m an addict though, so I might be the wrong person to give an opinion. Heh.

I say yes. I don't think i'll go back to the PC version ever again once the 360 version catches up to date. PC doesn't have voice chat and in order to craft things you have to look it up on wiki if you don't know how to make something.
Split screen is also a plus. Didn't really care about mod support as I never used mods or skins. And to top it all off I can finally play Minecraft on the big screen while being a lazy ******* on a comfy couch with some friends.
Being able to kick back & relax to play Minecraft on a couch or bed & not having to sit at a computer desk is well worth the 1600MSP.
Agree. And happy to see that we will get all updates, creative mode, texture pack, skins, and probably a bigger world and more then 8 players in the future.
Mods is still a ?.
But why here.. time to kick back on the couch and have fun on MC
I got it for the Xbox because it was more of a hassle to play on my laptop, even with Optifine. And it didn't help that I also needed Skype to talk to friends. Now I can play nice lag-free Minecraft with my friends on a platform I'm comfortable with. Was it worth the 1600msp? I would have rather paid 800msp-1200msp, but I really like it. So yeah.
the good ways:
-you feel more alive /w controller and a huge television
-free servers, max 8 man
-4 man splitscreen
the bad ways:
-still beta 1.6.x
-smaller worlds
-still no mods, unknown if it has bans
-harder to find diamonds etc.
i think its worth to buy it bc, you know its gonna update and the bad ways are going to be gone after all,the end is still going to come the ender dragon, endermans, ocelots, jungles if i would be you i would buy it.
I think it's worth it, sooner or later all the cool stuff will come out (preferably sooner). It offers a whole new perspective on Minecraft, it even feels like a brand new game at times. The best part of it is that you can't be tempted by all of those evil mods because they don't exist (you actually have to work for what you have)! Oh, also being able to play on the big screen is a huge plus for me.
PLEASE READ MINE I HAVE A VERY GOOD OPINION. Now I have both versions. I know that at first you won't like the controls on the Xbox. But after a while you will like it. If you like t play with your friends with ease, play Xbox. Also about the update for Xbox. Since Minecraft was bought by microsoft it should have more people working on it so it should get updated frequently. So I believe it is better and worth it.
