Help with Spider Mob Spawner

So I found a Spider Mob Spawner and I need help thinking of ways to kill them and loot them. Now, I'm not sure which method is effective against Spiders so I'm here looking to see if anyone knows of a good clean way to kill the little buggers.

Put everything of value of chest.

Go to the dungeon with 5 torches and a sword.

Place torches on each side of spawner. (Do this before even bothering to kill the spiders.

Oooooor, I just though of this really, try flooding those bastids out with lava

^Not sure that works.

Probably doesn't.

Ignore this.

use redstone. some dispensers. presure plates and arrows and spiders will be dead with no time lol

I'm looking for more of a burning/drowning method, since I haven't gone deep enough to find redstone.
