Not sure if anyone has found this, but if you head up the tower in the castle, jump off into the water near it and there is a pretty big hole that leads down and a hidden chest is at the bottom with full diamond armor and 2 diamond pick axes, 1 diamond axe, 1 diamond hoe, and 1 diamond sword.

on the right side of the stairs of the biggest house in the first village dig staight down until you hit gravel dig up the gravel and there will be some diamonds(on the top) redstone iron and coal also there is some redstone and lapiz lazuli(u might have to mine up some stone) that connects to more diamonds in all it should be 14 diamonds (WARNING there is dirt under the gravel that leads to a lava pool so be careful)
I found sugarcane fairly easy. I took a boat around the main island. I found about 20 canes. ps. there is an underwater item cache. that other guy doesn't know what he's talking about
On the 1.7 tutorial map, ner the dockyard in the cstle, underwater there is a spot, when you dig the dirt, there is a chest with diamond tools and armor. im not lying ask Mojang.
When you enter the castle, dig into the big walls on left and right. It is hallowed out wall but nothing seems to be in it. ( I found this because I kept hearing zombie noises and I couldn't find him till I dug into the wall)

2. Go to the chapel in the castle. Dig down through the wood blocks to reveal a secret room with a lot of stone. Mined some of it, but couldn't find anything.
3. Yeah the armor thing, whatever.
4. Make sure to take plenty of supplies from the beginning of the tutorial world. The sticky pistons helped me a lot, since I can't find slimes anywhere.
5. Plenty of rail to mine for your own use by the castle. I basically stripped the castle of everything and then blew it up with TNT.
6. The houses in the villages don't have anything.

Now on to actuality.I explored the caves under the castle for you and can tell you there isn't really much of interest in there.
When I go into caves and mine deep I have to play on peaceful because a spider surprising me will make me not want to play for a month and very paranoid.
Have you found the diamond item cache? Go up the castle tower at night and walk around the top and look down at the ocean and you should eventually see a faint glow on the ocean floor from glow stone jump and try to make it inside the 4x6 hole and swim until u come upon a chest
Oh yeah, I have turned the whole tutorial map into my main world, so far I have found:
Island that looks like Svalbard
An awesome castle with a church, a watchtower and an underground dock
A functional mining outpost with a sweet mining house
2 villages
Lighthouses all over the place
A treasure chest full of fishing poles and boats
That's all I have found, by the way, I live on that island that looks like Svalbard, it's pretty cool, but I often sail between it and the castle dock.
I have in fact, mapped out the entire tutorial world, above ground and below ground. I can tell you, there is not a Mojang logo anywhere, nor an item cache.
I have found two more.
Diamond item chest and Nether Portal inside the Minecraft Logo.
