So I have a first generation xbox 360, I got it day one when the Xbox launched. There is no hdmi slot on my xbox because they were not put onto the console untill later, so now i cant play slpit screen unless i buy a new xbox. I really don't understant why you cant play splitscreen in sd....why is minecraft the only game that does this? Very poor design choice in my opinion.

No need to blame Minecraft or Mojang.
My first gen Xbox 360 works perfectly with hdmi cables you just need the right cables to connect with your xbox 360 and hdmi cables.

Yeah, I have component AV cable, too, and it can run HD and an optical audio (fiber optic) headset. Check eBay or Gamestop, and try to get an authentic one.

You can never find your path if you aren't lost for a little while.
I have a pre-owned 1st gen xbox, and mine came with a cable with the three pin (SD) and six pin (YUPPIE) connector, which says it is HD, and plays in 1080p (which is HD i think?) so if you get one of the yuppie cables it should work, or there should be more pins on the connector you already have.
The 6 plug component connector plays in 1080i or 720p not 1080p. But both 1080i and 720p are HD.

Component cables don't do HDMI, but they are HD cables so you are able to play in 720p and split screen.
