Has anyone found clay? I know it was a lot more rare in previous versions but I haven't even seen any and as far as I can tell nobody on the leaderboards has mined any. Is it in the game?

Yes but they are only found when the x and y coordinates are the same, making them nearly impossible to find. This was fixed in Beta 1.7.
Gonna have to wait till the next updates.

"You can't have everything, where would you put it?"
clay is found in water bodies, normally on the lowest level of said body, is not that hard to find, but can be confused with sand due to it's blueish color and the fact you're normally looking at it while underwater
I've been looking for hours and I still can't find any. If someone has any free time and could join my game and find somee for me would really help. My gamertag is NHG Lucky. Thanks!
Usually spawns on the coast of oceans and rivers but always in water. You will never find clay on dry land
It's also possible to find clay under Cacti, albeit highly unlikely.
@op: there is a bug in the world generation prior to 1.7(the update they are working on now) where clay only generates if the X and Z coordinates are the same.
I am on a mission to find clay in my world. Now... since we don't know what our coordinates are in the XBLA version... where do I look?
If I'm looking at my map... should I begin in the upper left hand corner (I have an island there with lots of water and sand) or is that the wrong section?
And IF I find some, it will be the one and only time I use the Dupe Glitch, since finding stuff is half the fun for me, but I justify it here because it's using a glitch to fix a bug.
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
The places I have found it across various maps are in the northwest, middle and southeast areas of the maps.
I assume when you say northwest, that's looking at the upper left corner of the map, right? Just making sure before I go out searching... and how far down in the water/sand should I look/dig?

Good to know. Its just so darn dark though on the bottom of oceans.
well you can make pumpkin lanterns, yet pumpkins may be just as rare :/
I've found a bunch of them laying around.
