I'd love a update just because the fact i can't do anything else to my seed till pistons come out. but still I'm in no rush for a update, It will come when they get it ready to patch in the game.
I think most people are upset because this version of the came out literally an entire year ago, and they have already fixed the bugs and added so much to it on the PC version... They should have been adding those fixes and changes to the Xbox code as the development process went along. I mean, all they have to do is port the coding over. It's not like the Xbox version isn't just a direct port of the PC version...
I mean, if it takes the development team a month(+) to release an update that came out A YEAR AGO, then it looks like Xbox Minecrafters are doomed to live in the past forever.

In all honesty, I think 4J is really working there asses off here.
People are asking of so much from them, and they are positively responding
I don't think we are "doomed" into Minecrafts past.
lets not have this updated. I like the old world gen. The newer ones make the landscape boring. BOOO!!!
Yes! someone with wisdom! I love the old feel of minecraft better than the newer one! The Hunger bar I might like to see, but that's the only BIG thing I want changed to the core gameplay

While you have posted some great ideas on this forum your understanding of the development process is mostly ignorant. 4J began porting the then current version of Minecraft (1.6.6) around a year ago. Before a company can update a product they need to make certain that they have the same foundation (read: codebase). There is no point in trying update a product to fix a glitch when the glitch does not work the same way. As a result, this foundation (1.6.6) is critical in allowing 4J to produce later updates.
As a consumer I can understand your frustration, but be assured that your anger comes from your ignorance of this process. Besides, as Mojang continues to update Minecraft with newer versions, which one would you prefer that 4J port? At least now that 4J has produced a working version they can begin the process of updating the game using the same foundation.

Seeing as 4J has to translate all updates to a different programing language, adjust it to their build (small world sizes, etc.), work out any new bugs that arise during this conversion, and go though the cumbersome 360 patch process every time, I don't really think it's "ignorant" to think 360 users are going to always be lagging behind when it comes to updates. It's probably more ignorant o think otherwise, or at least overly optimistic.

Alright, so let's get back to the development process. When Mojang updates a game they have the process of trying new features, updating older ones and fixing existing bugs. They then begin the task of creating a full update with all of these bundled together. This process continues with each version that is released.
4J, alternatively, fixes any existing bugs and then ports the final version of the next major update. This means if there was 1.7, 1.7.1, 1.7.2 and 1.7.3 they are only updating the game with the final iteration of that version, namely 1.7.3. This entire process, while requiring time, does not even compare to the process that Mojang must endure with every update. Certainly 4J must have their update certified but while this is happening they can continue porting new features as they know exactly what is next. Having all of the updates available makes this process much more streamlined as they know exactly what they must accomplish with each version.
See the difference yet?
EDIT: For the record, ignorance is a lack of understanding. Once you understand the process you are no longer ignorant.
DAMN RIGHT WE WANT A NEW UPDATE. like cmon its baysically 1.1 sure its ok and everything but its to easy to do and not much you can do like i found at least 30 diamonds and ive been to the nether like cmon we need a new update and its not infinite sandbox mode yet theres a boundary to how far you can go once it gets updated quicker then thats when the good stuff seems to happen
Way to be ignorant like everyone I see on this forum. For the record here to set it straight update (1.7.1 or something) is set for July and a minor update is sooner. Reason why it is taking so long is because they have to decode the PC version into the Xbox 360. If you think you could help out then volunteer. If you cannot please be more patient.
I don't mean to zero you out here but everything I have read on the forum is a repost of something you can look up on google

That post you're talking about? yeah. That was posted on the 13th of May. Like, 17 days ago. At that time, the info wasn't readily avaliable. The game had Just come out.
i dont get it why cant they just port all the code at once and get it over with instead of doing it update by update?
They could have done that, I personally would have preferred to wait for the game to take a year so more content would already be integrated in it, but alas, none of this explaining or whining will make the updates come any faster.
You can't just copy paste the code, because Minecraft on PC uses Java, while Xbox typically uses C++ (eg. Minecraft X360). Also because the graphics for Xbox couldn't cope with Minecraft, so they had to re-write the code from scratch.
In all honesty, I think 4J is really working there asses off here.

I just think not even having a set release date for the next update (unless they want it to be a surprise) which only adds pistons, shears, and bug fixes 3 weeks after the game came out is kinda pushing it it just shows me that they are struggling to push this update out there may it be microsoft or them still working on it it does not look good. I say don't expect the Adventure Update till Christmas. And by the end of the summer I will have my custom pc and I won't be playing minecraft on xbox anymore. Its just disappointing. They said sometime this summer. That could be 2 months from now. And I'm assuming it will be. This game was horribly delayed after they said it was gonna come out in November 2011 and it ends up coming out in May. It just shows what will come in the future.

They are coding it from the ground up because Minecraft on PC runs on Java and the XBOX runs on C++ or some kind of C I can't remember for the life of me.

I can't figure out how to do the achievement get thing, so.... yeah
Following through on their promise of streamlined, consistent updates for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, the team at 4J Studios recently shed some light on the first update coming to the Xbox iteration of the popular, blocky sensation that is Markus “Notch” Persson’s brain-child.
Speaking with OXM, 4J Studios’ Paddy Burns shared that the next update for Minecraft will be the equivalent of the Beta 1.7.3 PC version, which includes piston functionality – which was a significant addition if you played on PC, and even more so if you were into the technical system aspects of Redstone.
“We’re implementing the features from the Beta 1.7.3 version at the moment, and it’s nowhere near as tricky as the 1.8.2 changes will be,” said Burns.
“There are no big architecture changes with the move to 1.7.3, so it’s been quite straightforward. The move to 1.8.2 is much more challenging.”
For those unfamiliar with update-speak, the 1.8 version of Minecraft on PC was originally titled the “Adventure Update”, featuring additions like NPCs, pre-built villages to explore, and more environmental biomes to roam around in.
Another significant addition was Creative Mode, which made the player invincible, as well as offer them infinite blocks of their choosing and the ability to fly (to make mega-builds all the simpler). It was designed to draw a line in the sand (or sand blocks, if you will) between creating in Creative Mode, and surviving in Survival mode.
All of this 4J Studios plans to bring to the Xbox 360 edition of Minecraft.
“This is going to be the most difficult update due to the sheer amount of changes, and also the underlying architecture changes that come with it. We’re looking forward to the challenge!”
While the Xbox port won’t house all the features of the PC version, it will house many of them. Or as Burns better puts it: “The game isn’t Minecraft on the Xbox, it is Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, so it isn’t really a direct port of the PC game.”
Well, good luck and good crafting everyone, I’ll inform you the moment we receive word of this update’s arrival. Excelsior!

http://www.insidegamingdaily.com/2012/05/24/minecraft-xbox-360-edition-update-details-revealed/4J Studios’ Paddy Burns has shared some details about the upcoming updates you can expect too see in Minecraft Xbox 360.
Paddy Burns shared most of the details about the update on OXM UK. It will be update version 1.7.3.
Not only is 4J Studios implementing the aforementioned update, they’re also including what is called the “Adventure update”. Here’s the details on that:
“Minecraft 1.8 isn’t so much an expansion as an entirely new game. It adds Creative Mode, which gives players invulnerability, infinite blocks and the power of flight, plus a host of mechanics that are designed to make Survival Mode feel more like a classic dungeon-crawler. You’ll have a new stamina gauge to reckon with, replenished by eating things, plus new enemies like the Endermen, the ability to parry attacks, optional NPC villages and vast underground strongholds, stocked with rare items and materials. On the technical side, expect a revamped lighting system. This is going to be the most difficult update due to the sheer amount of changes, and also the underlying architecture changes that come with it. We’re looking forward to the challenge!”

yep, bc its unfair if we will play 1.7.3 and pc users play 1.3. if they update at same time its unfair too.
