My old compy died and my fiancee's doesn't play Minecraft so I haven't played since 1.6 so I don't know what I'm missing so I can wait. Hopefully some bug fixes come soon though... And Enderman.
So, you make a brand new profile, just to talk? And besides,
Ninjas
The PC version is popular then the other versions. So there won't be a update soon until the PC version is in great shape again.
True that the Computer version has sold more units, but I am pretty sure that almost half a million sales in less than a week gets the attention of everyone involved, for what is in effect, an indie game played through XBox Arcade. A very good game though, that has received a lot of love from its creator.
I think exposing new players to the XBox version will help the PC version sell more copies since you get the epic exploration on the PC, and the major builds that will fill a large portion of the XBox map. I know I am looking ahead to buying a PC version to go along with my XBox version for the larger world. Especially since I found a website that told me my computer would actually run it just fine.
You know nothing. Its about RAM not memory. The Xbox has more then enough RAM to have infinite worlds. The whole 1000x1000 thing was just laziness on 4j's part. Hence why everyone who paid the exact same price a PC player paid wants it updated NOW.
Hearing it will be updated when they feel like it or "eventually" is useless to just about everyone.
According to the specs on the internet, we all know how reliable they can be, the XBox has
512 MB of memory when it was released. As far as I know this was never increased since a game made for the slim should also be playable on the original release version. http://hardware.team...ecifications/p1
By todays standards that is not a lot of ram. Most computer today require a minimum of one GB of ram. PCs are not XBox, and vice versa so that may not mean much
We would need an expert in JAVA to tell us if this is because of using JAVA or not.
Using C# may lessen the specs required, but I am no programming expert so I just don't know.
Yeah the terrible outdated software argument does not fly here. Its freaking Minecraft not Battlefield 3, Totalminer and Fortress craft have infinite worlds and they are true indie games, This was ported by the same guys who ported freaking obilvion to the PS3. I have a feeling they had more resources. Laziness.
While it is true that they have infinite maps, they are also early development with many of the wanted features not yet implemented by the developer. One thing you will find as a programmer, the more features that get added, the more you have to tighten up your code, and maybe cutback on features to keep the game speed up. It is easy to have game speed when all you have is terrain. It is when you need an AI thread running that the resources start taking a hit.
Hopefully they have planned and allowed for that, but that is not a guarantee.
The way I see it (And I know due to being able to program in both Java And C#) 4J is leaving room to make sure the 60fps stays there steady. Minimum final size i can see is 10K by 10K maps if not infinite. Please everyone, study up on what you're saying before you try and start a fight on the forums. 512kb is plenty of ram for Java based games. And C# holds just higher on the pull of ram after a port. End of the size topic this discussion can now be limited to the other features.
If you bothered to click the link you would have seen that it said "An update has been released!".
I'm guessing it was to Microsoft though... If so he's right we'll not see it for a while. But hopefully it was released and taking some time to seep through the big bad Microsoft web.

Ahh crap, I completely forgot about the certification process. If it has been released to the "big bad Microsoft web" as you called them, we won't see it for up to two weeks. Bummer
Don't be confused, an "update" in Xbox terms is just a small patch. Updates are limited to a few MB's in size so there is no way to squeeze in new content. When the catch-up content is announced, it'll be referred to as DLC, and there's a good chance it'll cost.

that's ********, it was $20, and they said all updates are free

This is certainly not true. BC2 had patches that were well over 500MB's. Look at BF3, It's latest patch was over 2GB. & all title updates on XBL are free.

It depends on whether 4J want to add new achievements or not. Unless Microsoft have changed their policy, you can't add achievements to free DLC; this was a big issue with the Xbox versions of L4D and L4D2.

Hmm OK. They must have made some changes. The old policy was that updates had to be less than 8MB in size.
Who dosen't??

The XBox meets the minimum specs according to this website
http://www.game-deba...&game=Minecraft
But I believe is short of the recommended specs.

And I eagerly await the update with pistons, and animal breeding so I can start my farm.
I hope I did not divert to far off topic for everyone. I was just curious and thought I would share.

Hmm, nice find. It was posted 3 hours ago. Haven't seen any updates.

Read the post directly before that one.

I got a shotgun ready unless thats not true. [JOKE]

I think they will make an exception after all the money Minecraft just made them...
