Ever since the release of minecraft, my friends and I have been having quite a lot of connection issues. No matter what world we play in, someone ends up lagging. It's not the same person either, it's different people at different times. I'm not sure if this is normal, or if we're doing something wrong, but it's really effecting our experience.
If anyone else is having this problem, please let me know. A fix would be fantastic as well.
I'm having the same issue. When playing multiplayer at random points, lag will spike for a certain set of individuals. Not sure why but sometimes it makes the game unplayable.

Alright, thanks for the reply. I thought at first it was the connection of the host, but this reassures my doubt.
I hope there's a patch for this soon, because it takes a huge toll on the online experience.
Games aren't hosted on a server, it's a P2P connection between clients with one main host. The most typical cause of lag would be congestion with the hosts connection.
I've been trying trying to play with my brother over the internet and we are having major connection issues.
Starts off with no lag and the lag slowly gets worse to the point where it's unplayable. :/
If the person lagging leaves and comes back, the cycle starts over.
Very unfortunate.
Yeah if i am the host it's good, but then my brother has the exponential lag. Gets to the point where it takes 30 seconds to open a chest or mine a block, and keeps getting worse.
When I play with my friend, the one not hosting always has terrible lag. Also, the one not hosting comes across these giant cliffs that lead to noware, like the chunks just stopped loading for some reason.

It only seems to happen when we are exploring and causing the game to load more of the map.
