Just a random topic. Felt we needed more discussion topics around here instead of complaining or trying to find people for servers.
So, the question is.. Do you play Online with other people, or Offline? And why?(depending on what you pick)
In my case, I play offline. I know a huge part of the game is playing online. But I lack a working mic, and the money to get a decent new one. And most people that want people to play with, want people with a mic. Plus I'm not much of a builder, and it seems a lot of times, people want someone to build with. I'm more of the kind of person that builds only what's needed, and just collects blocks.
In my current offline world, I have a small house, one of each kind of farm I can think of(Wheat, Tree, Cactus, Sugarcane, mushroom), and a mine. When I join my world, I pretty much just harvest the farms and replant what's needed. Store everything where it goes. Then sleep the night. Then wander around once I wake up trying to think of something to do. Usually end up just killing random pigs and sheep that spawn near my house.
Since i have bought minecraft for Xbox i have been playing split screen with my daughter.Great fun.We have a fun time running from creepers and zombies. When we first made a lil hut to sleep in the zombies and skeletons kept spawning in it and waking us up.It was hillarious.

I am working offline right now getting my world ready for guests. Plus, if you work offline you can pause and do other things without worrying about it getting dark or you going Boom.
I like to play online better. I just think that playing with friends and showing off your world is something amazing, But I do understand why people would like offline because they don't have a mic.

i play offline but i have a question. i cant find any ores or anything when i mine. the only thing i can find is iron ores and coal. and i mine deep down alot but i cant find anything. is it because you cant mine stuff offline?
Since I usually play alone, I play offline so that the game actually pauses when I press the start button. It took me a while to figure that out because I used to always play online, so I had to save and quit when I had to take a potty break.

your not mining at the right level or your just having bad luck.
Mining is a core part of the game and would not be limited to online gameplay.
I almost always play online, but when I do play singleplayer I usually spend 3-4 hours loving it. Then I forget its fun and play online for a few more days.
I play offline.I do not play online because I do not have any friends who has it.I do not have a mic but I am not sure about kinect as a mic because someone told me it could be that way.
I play online but I usually kick everyone that comes into my world. And I usually only play with one person. Usually when I play in a community someone decides to be a douche so I just do it when I'm in the mood. I don't know a lot of players who care for a mic? I hate using my mic. Haha. So annoying. Hurts my ear.
I always play offline, because I only have one friend that is even somewhat interested in Minecraft, but he doesn't have the xbox version. He said he quit playing right around the time that pistons were introduced.
I once gave him a free redbox code so that he could rent the 360 version from a local kiosk and play with me but he never did it.
I guess I shall be Forever Offline in Minecraft......lol
I like to play Online. I can't play offline much. I always get bored. Plus, it is always fun seeing another person mining and making their own home. I like to see other peoples ideas and how they survive. If I ever play alone, I only do Survival. I made one or two creative and don't feel like making another. A Spleef and a CTF. Both very fun but time consuming. TOO time consuming. :/
I'm a fan of playing by myself, so I play offline most of the time. I'm not a fan of random people on my friend's list joining my game, I don't want to be griefed. I tend to only play with a couple different people, and I know them very well. If they grief, it's just a joke, no malice involved.
I especially never play online while I'm in creative mode. I always have a specific objective in mind then, so I don't want to have to make sure there aren't any random diamond houses or giant craters.

No offense to you, but I generally avoid people without mics. They always seem to be the ones that try to cause trouble in my worlds. Besides that, it's simply inconvenient to play with someone when communication is so difficult. Nobody wants to stop every few minutes to read a text message, or wonder what a player is doing when they can't immediately report back.
Anyway, I kind of play online, but I rarely play with others. It's usually me working on a solo project while talking to a few friends in party chat. Occasionally I'll join a friend's world and help out for awhile, but that's about it.
