So I started a new world with my brother today, we started to make a house at ground level, around the house we were trying to build a trap for any animal/enemy that tries to come close to the house. So we put Cactus down there, we thought "Why lose the loot? lets make a collection plate" so we outline were the water will flow to and how it will get to the bottom of the house.
We were ready to start putting the water in but noticed that some of the water we tried to put down just kept disappearing. This got really annoying since we were nearly done with our trap. Now I know this will be fixed sooner or later but for the time being has anyone found a way around this annoying glitch/bug?
It hasn't happened to me. I know with one of the clone (Overstatement) minecraft games TotalMiner this used to happen depending on the map seed you are playing on..
This isn't a bug, you're most likely too close to the original spawn point. They prevent you from placing water, or lava near the spawn point to prevent respawn issues. Try moving away from the spawn and putting water down then.
Me and my brother are playing on Archespore (Seed), and we moved far away from our Spawn point. I know that sleeping on a bed changes your spawn point, could that be causing the problem?
I'm playing single player and i have this problem, the water source disappears causing the other water to disappear, with lava the initial lava source disappears and inless it spreads you're screwed.
Only problem I've had with water is it not acting the way it should, like a source block of water floating in air.

actually i wouldn't think so since even if you changed your spawn, the original spawn area will still be there as the original spawn no matter what. Just would be nice if they would reduce the size or let us somehow change the location of the spawn....

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

I really hope it isn't that. And I doubt it is.
