This is some good tips for those who may not have played Minecraft before (can be good for the normal minecraft forum too)
If your playing on anything but peaceful this can be help you start out.
First of all when you first start a world first thing you should do is find a tree as soon as you can. and get at least about id say 2 or 3 blocks of wood by punching the tree. Once you have the two or 3 blocks of wood (thats all you need to start with) place the wood at the bottom of your crafting slots to make planks.
Use up the wood to make as many planks as you can. then go to the tools section and find a crafting table and make that. set the crafting table whenever you can. and then go and make at least one set of 4 sticks. while having at least 3 wooden planks left over (if you have at least 3 blocks of wood you should have enough) then go to your tools and make a wooden axe
This wooden axe would allow you to chop down wood much faster then using your bare hands. (which can come in handy on your first night as you only have limited time to gather resources)
the next thing you should do is keep gathering up some more wood with your axe. just a few more wood blocks (5 or 6) would be fine for now.
Then go ahead and make a few more sticks (you should have 2 left over from the first time) and some more wood planks.
Go to your tools and create a wooden sword and a wooden pickaxe. Then. before you go out and get any more wood. i would strongly suggest (you might want to break your crafting bench and take it with you it will drop the block and you can pick it up) that you go find some sheep
it seems in the 360 Version all you have to do is hit a sheep once and they drop one or two (sometimes 3) blocks of wool. this to me is very essential in starting out
as once you get 3 blocks of wool and have 3 wooden planks you can craft a bed. The bed is an extreamly useful tool because you do not need to have shelter to use it
so what it gives you is more time to run around and explore the world and as soon as you see night approaching, place the bed on any surface (not snow or ice) and you can sleep in it. if you sleep right as night comes on. no monsters will have spawned around you when you wake up. so you can continue on exploring.
Then the next thing you want to do is to find some stone , you can do that by digging down a bit or look for hills with exposed stone blocks and gather a few . this will allow you to make stone tools which would last longer. also have a chance to find coal. If you cant find any coal. you can make a furnace using stone blocks and take wood and wooden planks to make charcoal (which is the same as coal) to make torches which can help exploring dark places.
but to simplify
- break at least 3 blocks of wood from a tree first
- find a sheep or two and gather at least 3 blocks of wool
- make a crafting bench then make a wooden axe
- chop down more wood.
- use your bed to sleep when night approaches out in the wild
- build stone tools to make gathering resources easier :-)
simple as that. then once you gather more items you can start making a shelter ...and mining and other things.
but i say the number one thing you should get first is a wooden axe and a bed. those two will make things a bit easier.
If you have a bed you can simply break the bed once you sleep in it and place it on the ground and pick it right back up and take it with you.
Just some nice tips. :-) as i see a few tutorial videos but i think they really do not go into some of the tips .
everyone says you need to make a shelter for your first night. technically you really do not have to as long as you keep track of the time and make a bed first. (though depending on where you spawn you may not have acess to sheep) but keep running around and you might find some in not too long :-)
fun times!
