found eight diamond on my second day of playing, along with every other ore, and then my friend found another few in almost the exact same spot just a couple blocks deeper

Still a credit to your ruse, what a beautiful excuse, To never open up your eyes and see the things you lose,
Just climb the beanstalk when you die and meet the giant in the sky.
Yeah, i got lucky and found like 7 my first cave..then i got shot off a ledge going back to base by a skeleton and landed in lava. Good times.
ouch, that's rough, it's like my friend who had just gotten his first diamond pick and fell into lava on his first excursion with it, mean while mine lasted till my third trip to the Nether, where i lost it when the game decided i wasn't sneaking on a precarious staircase to some glowstone

I have two diamond blocks (18 diamonds) under my bed and I've went through 3 diamond pickaxes, gave diamond pickaxes equaling 9 or 12 to my friends, and have full diamond tool set except for hoe. Not trying for diamond armor unless I have an abundance as dying in an iron armor set is less frustrating to than diamond if you get blown up by a random creeper.
I did anger the diamond gods I think by being greedy and two invisible creepers blew me and a chunk of my watchtower up. Wasn't fun.
Here's my advice: when you go mining with friends, ALWAYS go first lol.
That is funny because I have been playing for over 14 hours and have only found 1 lousy diamond.
Try looking from layers 7-16 from bedrock, that is where diamonds tend to spawn. i average about 25-30+ diamonds an hour using this method. If any of you would like to find many diamonds, try the seed "worstseedever" i found 46 in my first day playing on this seed.
i found five all in one spot then ten minutes later found 6 more i have one map with a ton of everything except gold. i have played on this map from day one and still no gold but its an awesome map the seed is ether awesome or first lots of diamond
You may agree or disagree with this comment but from my experience when I'm digging down deep and come across dirt in the middle of nowhere I follow the dirt. I usually find a deposit of about 30-40 pieces of dirt. When I clear this out, I find coal, iron ore and sometimes diamonds, gold, redstone or whatever. This has happened on more than one occassion. So my theory is , follow the dirt when you are digging down deep. I've found 12 diamonds and have only used some to build a pick axe. I've found about 40 pieces of Gold so far.

I don't think there's a relationship between dirt and ores, but there is a relationship to how fast you can clear out dirt: even with a stone shovel, you can clear that area extremely quickly. Much faster than if you were going through stone with a diamond pick.
I always explore caves and crap to find dungeons, lava, redstone, diamonds, etc. On my main world, I have over 30 diamonds, plus 2 diamond pickaxes and also 2 diamond swords. All of that just by exploring caves, not tunneling or anything. When I tunneled with my friend, I didn't find any.
I also found plenty of redstone, gold, etc.
