When ever I try to enter the nether portal in my world my whole xbox freezes. I went in once came back to grab some stuff. Went back in and it crashed my game. Tried this 3 times and it doesn't stop crashing. Any idea why it is or how to fix it? Please let me know. I really don't wanna start over.

Mine just froze while trying to enter the nether. The first two times I went to the nether it worked fine, this time it froze. I couldn't even turn the 360 off, I had to actually unplug the thing. Luckily it doesn't seem to have messed anything up. And I didn't lose anything too bad, other than the fact that I have to re-harvest my various farms now.

However I'm not gonna bother going back to the nether until the problem gets fixed. I don't want to end up breaking my 360 by unplugging it too much.

Haven't experienced this, yet, but I have only been in the Nether twice, and both times left quickly due to the lag of loading new blocks.
I'll test this later and see if I have the same problem.

Same happened to me.

It will crash if your on an older TV. If you have an HD TV it wont

my tv is pretty old and I havnt had it freeze on me yet and ive traveled there maybe 5 times

I have an HD t.v

I only went in once and it crashes each time now. I'll try unplugging my wifi connector and see if it works but only once because I don't want my xbox to explode from so many crashes.

Just unplugged it and it crashed. Only thing else I have plugged in is kinect and I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with that.

Doesn't freeze for me I don't have a HD Tv. I bought my xbox like 6 years ago. But I spawned in a closed up space in the nether so maybe for me it does not need to load much quick. While your map is open in the nether most likely and trying to load faster that your xbox and/or game can.

Don't go to Nether.. I know I definately won't until I hear this is being fixed. Thanks for the heads up.

I had the issue and kept attempting.

However I found that going in with 3 other players in works. It freezes while im by myself.
Also found inventory opening while going in might freeze it..

ALWAYS SAVE BEFORE TRYING TO GO IN.

happened to me too when I first made a portal using buckets of water and lava. not sure what the problem is. hope it can be fixed soon.

Not sure why people would think a tv has anything to do with the xbox freezeing. Anyways im on an old 42 inch tv , I can enter the nether as I please it loads very quickly and never has crashed me. You can try deleting minecraft and redownloading it. This fixed a few glitches for me.

What I have found is,

If in single player,
-freezes when inventory is open
-freezes after u go 1-3 times

Multiplayer,
no crashing...... yet

I am having the same issues entering the Nether. There is another forum in regard to the same issue and some players were suggesting ways that may help. Unfortunately, for me everything they suggested led to nothing. I broke it down and rebuilt it, I changed televisions ( also tried HDMI, Component cable), I did split screen online and also tried a guest account split screen, I also deleted the game and downloaded it again. Nothing seemed to work. Hopefully they fix this soon cause it is getting pretty lame. I mean I can with deal lags and a dragon flying backwards, but completely freezing each time is pretty ridiculous. Someone mentioned to me to just stop going down there, but I want the "Nethrack". You know how long it took for me to get the portal together!!??

If you get stuck inside the nether, sign in a guest, have them come inside and kill you and take your stuff. DO NOT RESPAWN UNTIL YOUR GUEST RETURNS TO YOUR WORLD!!!! Then kill him and take your stuff back Hope this helps

There's a few reports now of players unable to enter a Nether Portal without a game crash. I believe one solution posted was to commit suicide (if stuck inside the nether), and you should be able to go back in and out. Some users have reported they become unable to ever enter/re-enter the netherworld again. If this is the case then you may wish to leave your saved world to the side and begin a new one until a Patch arrives.

Ok I followed another suggestion. Delete your system cache, play minecraft offline, exit the nether, save game, exit game, play minecraft on online, download update. This worked for me and I hope it helps others. Altdelhistory.

BUMP/ newly released update DID NOT fix the glitch, at least for me. CAN'T BELIEVE THEY DIDN'T FIX THIS IN THE FIRST UPDATE. I have a mind to ask for a refund for the game. Pathetic.
