Hey guys, so basically I can't find to many diamonds I think I've found like 7 overall and I've played a lot. I have a mineshaft that is 8 blocks up from bedrock and started making a pretty large mineshaft branching off into other mineshafts and I can't seem to find diamonds what so ever. Do I need to go lower than 8 blocks or are diamonds just that rare.?
Well i found about 6 on my first mine, luck I guess... but what I always do is when i hit bedrock I start to branchmine :3 thats how i get mah diamonds
Diamonds are a lot rarer than the PC version since diamond rates weren't increased until 1.8 and the xbox version is at 1.6.6 (as we all know). According to the Wiki, before 1.8, diamonds were 25% less common than they are now on PC. I know things could be slightly different with the 360 version, but that's just going off PC information.
My first map is only 45 minutes old and I've already found 7 diamonds in my first cavern sweep. I find most of my diamonds digging a 2 block radius around underground lava pools if that helps.
i have found a method that has worked for me every time. today me and my buddy started a new level and within 1 hour we found 15 diamond. dig all the way down to bedrock and then use the mineshaft method make 2 corridors that are parallel to each other that are 18 blocks long and 2 blocks wide. then make tunnels in those corridors making sure u always have 2 blocks in between each tunnel to ensure maximum coverage. u can make the tunnels as long as you like. this is also a good way find iron and farm stone if you need it. this also works on the pc.
Me and a couple of friends lost 4 diamond pickaxes Wednesday night while trying to mine the obsidian for a Nether portal. Was a very painful experience, but a lot of fun overall.
I would say dig down to about level 11. Create a strip mine which has multiple branches which go out, with a gap of 2 between each strip. Make your strips about 10 - 20 blocks long, and mine with a stone pick, untill you find a ore of some 'rarity' and then switch to iron. (y)
