I clearly need more Glowstone , there are some amazingly constructed buildings/projects displayed here, I am new to this community, only ill play MC on the Xbox but have been intrigued by this game for months now, I have watched countless youtube vids on various things from redstone to survival tips, I feel the need to post some of my pics on here. Maybe I will do that later on when I get home from work.

Duping doesn't count as "getting better"
If you want to get better, you have to play the game the way it is meant to be played.
I did a bit of duping, and quickly realized that for me it was taking the fun out of the game, so I only duped some rails to get that achievement and some coal. Never duped any building materials though.
Surely he can play the game how he wants? After the adventure update, with creative one of the ways the game is "meant to be played" is with unlimited creation tools. Regardless of the materials, you still have to make it, it isn't like you can auto generate the structures after you have duped. it may be cheap, but unlimited materials or not an impressive build still requires time.
I'm not condoning duplicating, just adding my 2 cents. I'm all for doing it legitimately, and all I have duped in my world is clay for obvious reasons. But people can play how they want, surely? especially if the have lives/school/jobs/children and so on. Not everyone has unlimited hours of gaming available.
Thank YOU for having an open mind to the fact that everybody wants to play the game a certain way, and should not be persecuted for doing so.
I get bored to TEARS digging and digging and digging and DIGGING just to gather enough diamond for a pickaxe or enough gold for 1 powered rail or some obsidian for something I want to use Black for and don't want to use flammable wool...
I haven't been duping as much lately, and I think once I finish my 50-boock-diameter sphere (top half is going to be obsidian), I'll probably go ahead and take the update and go forward from there.
Here is my small contribution to the screenshot post, a before / after on my map (seed: Quesadila) it has 2 mob spawners at the surface (skeletons & zombies). I made a bone / arrow farm out of it and had to build a huge cobble tower. So I had to find something to hide this cobble tower ^^

i have experience the lag your talking about in a few friends games, but the only thing i have duped was a couple of pickaxes, i was late to the dupping party apparently. Glad i was, i couldnt bare not access to my little town. This is an image of my city by night.
That world looks familiar are you using the LandOfLIB seed? Either way thats an impressive town.
Our world so far, inspired by our gaming homebrew world:
Castle Wall Before landscaping & construction:
Castle Wall After landscaping, etc (Castle itself still in planning stages):
Wall Gate:
The Village (under construction, with a nice view of the boat):
Guard tower and the house from where the Village pic was taken:
The storage bunker:
In the Castle Wall pic, the dirt blocks in the middle are marking off every 10th space. Also, in the far background of the guard tower pic you can see the massive Mage's tower partially hiding behind a cloud.
My labyrinth! No duplication, everything was hand mined and took me around 40 -50hrs on and off over about a month! It has the longest jump you can do, top of the map to the bottom to finish off if you make it through! I've lost count of the pickaxes and spades used. I think I'm going to have a lie down now!
If you want to come and have a look, add my gamer tag: elgringoson
Forgot to add, it's 120x120 squares wide and the walls are 5 squares high, so that's a lot of stone! To prove that I didn't duplicate I have the mine shafts below.

There are some amazing builders on the forums.

WOAH!
you made your own mountain? NICE.
I like that, build a good looking mountain over you tower's!! Cool stuff.
I did not count the amount of spades used, but i can assure you that its a lot, took me about 5 hours of work, but I think it looks pretty natural
Buckethead is the best guitarist ever. \m/

WOW x 3,629,724,104
Wow to that too. I wish I had this kind of vision. My houses ultimately end up being square or rectangle. I'm so boring...
