When I find gold as a noob. What should I save it for assuming I do not have a lot of gold at this time?
Should I use it for armor or tools or save it for a later crafting project?

I appreciate your thoughts on this.

Well, it's fairly bad for...everything... I usually make a treasury with gold blocks just because.

Gold is actually worse than wood and chainmail has the same durability as gold. But wearing gold armour or making gold blocks is pretty good But you can make gold nuggets for potion making.

Powered Rails for sure. Don't ever use it for tools because gold has the same durability as wooden tools

Actually it has worse a wooden has around 60 uses and gold only 32 uses

Powered rail is the way to go. The devs should figure out better uses for such a rare ore, same for Lapis Lazuli.

Not really rare on Xbox, may just be me though we found about 22 Gold Ore in about an hour of starting the world

It's rare in the sense that you need to go to a pretty deep and dangerous place to get it. I've put in a lot of hours and only have maybe 10-15 ores.

Saving all mine until powered rails are implemented.

I've mined 20k ores, was in top 10 for mining blocks and haven't found gold, so no, gold is not less rare on xbox. >_<

I usually have more diamonds then gold. I don't really go caving unless I'm running out of iron and gold spawns infrequently enough that mining for it is a pain.

Powered rails are the way to go. Or make some gold blocks for your throne room.

Yeah, just save your gold until powered rails. Though they should find better uses for it

I want golden arrows! One hit creeper kills this will also make TNT less rare and more useful as a mining tool

I would recommend using it for golden apples, with their health restoration, they're good for killing MOBS.

Use it for powered rails. I know you've been told this 10 times but heres why. There is an achievement to go 500m in a single direction by minecart without stopping. You're going to need about 10 stacks of iron and about 3/4 of a stack of gold. For every stack you place down of rail, put 1 powered rail and a redstone torch beside it. If you want to count out the rail you can put 80 normal rail and then a powered one because a powered rail will push your minecart 80 blocks. I just do it because going by stacks is much simpler and faster. Super easy. The hard part is finding the iron. You need so much it's ridiculous. Hope i helped.

gold is pretty useless at the moment once enchanting comes in if u make like a gold sword and enchant it with unbreaking then its awesome but since there isnt enchanting yet on xbox its pretty much usless unless ur making a clock

Thanks again. Counting out resources like this will make it a lot easier to know what I need for my upcoming rail project, but first to figure out how to a water elevator working for my cliff side lair.

I only use Gold for powered rail and maybe a clock..

Powered Rails would be a cool use. You could make a system of "circumnavigation," or whatever the equivalent might be for a rectangle world without a height.
