Thanks for the reply! I just sent you a tweet about it before I saw this, heh.
I'm willing to help in any way I can for this.
I almost lost my mind tonight when I died inside my house tonight after mining for diamonds. I spawned at the world spawn instead of my bed and had to try to get all the way back to my house through a night time world filled with monsters, ha!. Luckily I had a friend playing with me who was able to get all my stuff before it went away.
FYI - I tried what you asked at the beginning of this thread. When I enter a saved world I still spawn at the original spawn point and I only have a map in my inventory. When I look at that map, it DOES show all the areas that I've explored previously. Hope that helps.
This might be something thats impossible to reproduce. It seems to affect certain Gamertags, and only those gamertags. No matter where we play, it still happens. So if any of the "tags' you would use for internal dev were not effected this way, it would be hard to test. Would it help if you could log into an effected users Gamertag?
I dont know how i would feel about letting someone log into mine, but there might be someone willing to do it. Might at least narrow down some possible causes.
Bumpity bump. Let's keep this up and in the open. Remember to add if you've found a solid solution that doesn't involve running back to your spawn to dump your stuff!
So, I found this topic while searching everywhere for a solution. I'm also having trouble with my account where it never saves my character data. I was wondering if maybe since I bought it on my computer with xbox.com's marketplace, then loaded it on my xbox if that was a possible reason it wasn't working? I also had the trial version first before I downloaded the full game.
It seemed to download really quick on my xbox too, then again it can't be that big of a game. =\
Hoping to find a fix to this bug soon. It's annoying me to no end. xP
EDIT: I've noticed that when it saves, it does the 'saving chunks' once with my live account I bought it with, but with a different account on the xbox it does it twice. Am I just noticing it not save my character data?
Same problem here. No items in personal inventory, but my world is fine. My map is also ok, though I have about 5 of them right now. LOL.
To make life a little less painful I drop torches whenever I go explore so i can find my way back quickly from spawn and I make a box and load it up before quitting. Not ideal, but better than not minecrafting on my XBOX.
I can't wait for the day I go into the game and find myself at my second house on the bed.
I haven't bothered trying much to get it to work. I saw everyone on here having the same issue and knew I was boned until a fix was found.
Buddy of mine told me something to try to get this fixed, which was to delete the game, all saves, clear the cache on the 360, delete my profile data (just the profile not profile and items), re-download my profile, the game, and the update. It was my last hope and did not work.
This bug is attached to the XBL profile, and isn't in the game data yet still has an obvious effect on the game itself. If you can wipe every trace of Minecraft off your 360 hard drive, and clear the cache, download Minecraft again and it remembers somehow that you had the music turned down to 0% and the Gamma up to 70%, and that you were playing on Normal, it has to be connected to the XBL Profile. That's where you need to look.
We need someone experiencing this bug who has more than 1 Xbox to install Minecraft on both boxes, under the same profile to confirm this.
I would like to put out there that I also own the PC version of this game, and have owned it for some time. I used the same e-mail address for the PC Minecraft as I did for my XBL profile, but my profile name, and gamertag do not match. It's pretty outlandish, but could this be the link?

Don't think this is the link. My friend's MC username and XBL gamertag are different and he doesn't have the bug, whereas mine are the same ( they were at least ) and I do. Good guess, but don't think it's right.
As for installing it on multiple xboxes, I had my neighbor use my account and install MC on his, and the bug was still there. Defienntly linked to the account.
this character data glitch isn't listed. are we supposed to make another account and waste money on another xbox live subsciption just to enjoy this game?
i think its becuase this bug isn't very common, i for one have never had this bug and have only ever noticed that an xbox live guest account always has its inventory wiped and respawns at the default spawn
4JStu has posted in this topic before saying they are following this bug. i'm just disappointed they weren't able to fix it. a lot of people in this topic haven't been able to enjoy the game and play it like it's meant to be played. now we have to wait even longer for a potential fix.
@jesusponcho: I saw that last night, and I pretty much jumped for joy when I saw it. Then I read more into it and saw that it was a "might of" sort of deal. Keeping fingers crossed!
Uincase it still counts...
I tried to save with my account and the same thing Happend. When I sign into my brothers account and save it will say preparing chunks 2 time as for mine it only said it once.
Ps: my brothers account is working and mine isn't, yet the map saves...
great news everybody! i just got the update and the first thing i did was see if this glitch still exists. i collected some sand and built a derpy monument with it and made sure i had some left in my inventory. i saved, quit, and reloaded and my monument was still there, i had sand in my inventory and only one map!
thanks for fixing this glitch, 4J. now i can finally enjoy this game.
edit: i should also add that i haven't tried to reset my spawn with a bed yet. if they fixed the inventory part, then hopefully the spawn resetting was part of that as well.

Curse Premiumhopefully this glitch is included in that.
One can only hope.
