At least I'm not the only one. I have to run to my house and stash everything in a chest before I save if I want to still have it all next time I load the game.

First of all, you are not playing as a guest are you? It doesn't sound like it but just want to check as guests don't get saved. If you are playing with anything other than a Gold use would be useful to know, but that shouldn't affect things.

Before you save if you use your map and walk around a bit so you have clearly changed what is displayed on the map, do you still see this area on the map after your data has been lost? And do you even have a map when you load the level again with your data lost?

:I have a gold account and I am signed on properly. I can earn achievements and unlock avatar items, gamerpics etc.
:My game is set to online game. I haven't played any multiplayer yet.
:When I load my game, the only thing in my inventory is the map but I have no idea if it's the same map or a new onesince I never use it.
:It doesn't make any difference whether I save and keep playing, save and quit or any other combination of save options. The second I quit my game, anything still in my inventory is gone.
:The only way I can "keep" anything is to put it all in chests before saving my game.

The first time it happened I just went "oh well" and moved on. After the second time I decided to start dumping all my stuff in chests.
This is the only glitch I've had yet and it's not game breaking or anything, just annoying and inconvenient with having to go and retrieve all my stuff each time I load a game. Everything else works great.

The same thing happened to me. I manually saved, and right when I exited the game, it froze. I turned it back on and everything was gone. My house and my inventory were both gone.

i'm having the same issue and i used my map, but the map also reset to a new map, it's like the game is acting like i had never saved since i started the map. although i played for 10 hrs and saved every 1 to 2 hrs

my map is fine, the house i built, the items i've stored in a chest even the wolves i've tamed are all right where i left them. but i always spawn back at the world spawn with no inventory except for a new map as if i just entered the world. and to answer your previous questions i am gold, no guest and the only account on my box so it's not an issue with that

Yeah this is what happens to me. The world and everything in it saves just fine but my character always loads back into the world like a new character with an empty inventory.

best fix i've found is to put everything in a chest before saving, not ideal mind you and hopefully when they do fix it we won't need to start a new world. today i was mining underground for about 3 hours terrified the whole time since i couldn't save and had to make it back to my house before i could store anything

This is really bugging me. Doesn't matter how I save, or who's world I'm in, I lose everything in my inventory when I quit. Even worse, when I'm playing on a friends server, I get dropped sometimes for no reason, and with no warning, and I lose everything. I'm the only person that this is happening to that I play with, I still have to find my way back to the building site every time too, even if I sleep in the same place every night. Simply maddening. Hard to enjoy the game like this, if I could get a refund I would.

Exactly what is happening to me. Very annoying

i am not seeing as many topics about this issue as i am about other things though. unless the developers see the problem then they won't be able to fix it. :/

Maybe try deleting the game and download it again?

i deleted the game and my 2 saves and then cleared the system cache. then i redownloaded it and made a new world. i gathered some dirt blocks, then i walked for a little bit towards some mounains. i saved the game and exited and when i rejoined i didn't have the dirt blocks anymore and i was back at the original spawn with just a map.

The same thing has been happening to me as well. Not sure what it is, but I've been told it has something to do with gamertag recognition or something along those lines. Don't quite believe it, but can't exactly disprove it either.

yeah, pretty annoying that silly things like grass clipping or what not seems to be getting priority over this issue which seems to be effecting a bunch of people making th egame nearly unplayable

I'm thinking it has something to do with the tutorial. None of my friends got very far in the tutorial and they aren't having this issue, but I completed it and it's happening to me. I tried deleting the game, the saves, and cleared the cache, reinstalled it, and I'm still having the issue. The weird thing is that even though I did all that, after the game loaded, and re-updated, when I went to start a new level the game was set to make a level on peaceful instead of the default easy setting. So it's saving something somewhere that's keeping that information and it's carrying over the bug. I even tried starting the game offline thinking that avoiding the update would work, but no dice.
