Torch dont give up enough light

When digging i used to place torches every 7-8 blocks, now it's more like 4-5. Same thing inside my little house i made, it's 6x6x3 with a torch on each wall and it's dark.

Yeah in some parts of a cave a torch will only light up 2-3 blocks, while in others a torch will light up an entire room
