With the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft out everyone is rushing to try it out. While I have a great deal of fun playing so far I have come to wonder, will the Xbox version support Texture Packs and Mods?
On the PC Texture Packs are supported in Minecraft and Modding API is soon on its way. With that said, will they be available on Xbox? As is we can't change our skins so I wonder if Textures and Mods are even in the big picture.
Either way it is hard to judge a game that has just been released but so far my expectations have been blown away and I'm very impressed.
So, what do you think of the game so far and do you think Texture Packs and Mods will be supported or even possible on the 360.

"Mod support and texture packs are also two major areas that are heavily discussed in regards to the 360 Edition. The latter is upcoming at no extra cost alongside extra player skins, but to what extent any mods will be accessible (or truly fan-made) without constant regulation from Microsoft remains to be seen."
they will make an appearance, most likely as free dlc

Still a credit to your ruse, what a beautiful excuse, To never open up your eyes and see the things you lose,
Just climb the beanstalk when you die and meet the giant in the sky.
custom player textures are damn near guaranteed
texture packs have been proved to be easy to modify
but mods are most likely not going to happen, there is a section of the main menu labeled "Download Content" which may include 'mods'
Mods can and probably will happen look up the game PES 2012. Theres a guy that puts up mods for the community called Daymos.Daymos is not in Konami nor Microsoft he just makes updates to the jerseys and adds different leagues and u use a usb and modio and its LEGAL. So this proves there can be user created mods as long as they make mod tools or tell u how to do it.

Considering mods of any kind are in violation of the Xbox Live Terms of Service, no, they are not legal.

Yes it is did you even look it up... This guy has been in their official announcements im pretty sure if it's illegal microsoft would have stopped him. Also before PES 2012 was released Konami(the maker) said it was making enhancements so that you could add mods easier. Im pretty sure microsoft would have noticed.
The main focus is doing the updates. We're investigating bringing more Xbox stuff with every update as well. We're obviously aware of the crazy things people do in the Minecraft world, and we will look quite seriously at what we can do and what we can't do within the Xbox Live world. No promises, but it's not a "no" either.
Well if mods were to happen it'll likely be handpicked and or developed from mojang, right now they want to have mods but judging by this it's still a "we're looking into it so no definites"
I have minecraft on PC and do not have money for 360 to even get it. Also too late as well with the next console on the horizon at some point, i'll likely get Xbox 3.
Maybe they willl release a tool kit deal for all the texture pack mod makers out there? If anything i think they should adopt Reis mini map and other popular Mods like TMI.Or even come out with thier own version of a mini map. That would be most useful for sure. Please forgive me if this sounds stupid.
I read somewhere that the updates will be free like they are on the pc but I guess we will have to wait and see...so far in loving this game me and my girlfriend play it a lot...I play during the day and she plays at night while I'm at work
they will make an appearance, most likely as free dlc
Since the game is on Xbox, I doubt that Microsoft will let texture packs out for free, will probably cost like 80MS points or if you get to create your own and share. It might cost about 400MS Points.

I doubt they could charge for texture packs. All texture packs are made by fans of the game, not Mojang looking to make a buck. Even if Microsoft makes then charge for DLCs then Mojang will make something that is worth money to download.

Microsoft has very little governing factor over DLC. Portal 2 added a whole new Multiplayer level for free. Any game Can do free DLC most CHOOSE not to because they know fans will give them more money. Mojang, who (I'm pretty sure) still decide what 4J do with the game would never allow a ripping off of the customer.
I have read in multiple places texture packs and player skins are going to be in the game later on (maybe by linking your XBL to your Mojang account).
Mods are probably going in but they are the thing they may not do if i understand what the are saying. The mods probably will not be mods but rather 'plugins' and will be installed as if they are a new map in cod (just an example not saying anything about cod so dont rage that i mentioned it) because they are adding a modding api in the PC version so they could put that on the XBox version the only problem is that the mod maker will need knowledge of the C programming languages to make the mod so that means even if mods are added your favourite one might not be avaliable.
I hope I helped

It looks like skins and Texture Packs will be on Xbox for free
There seems to be an argument about mods but mostly people are saying that with Modding API mods will be possible but hard to code.
There is another thought that certain mods will be hand picked by Mojang and will be available to download.
Either way there will be some form of modding on the Xbox.
Mods i have no idea how that will be pulled off
Just climb the beanstalk when you die and meet the giant in the sky.
Thanks.
Also, do you know if all Xbox updates will be free or if some will cost money.

Why not? The community has made the game so much more with texture packs and mods.
