I have the same problem, they LOOK like the give enough, but then you can't even sleep in a damn bed without something spawning in your house, even though there's a torch every 2 blocks, it's rather frustrating.
My problem is that when I look down, the screen is bright which is good. But when I start to look up, the screen turns dark and it gets annoying. I tried other tvs to see if that was the problem but it was the same. Does anyone else have this problem?

If you are at low levels deep underground you may have bedroock fog on. Could be a glare from a light source inside your room?
have you ever played 1.6 before? Its just how it should be.
