Guys the reason its not that much cheaper than the PC version is because Microsoft had to buy Copyright Permission from Mojang, same with everygame and they have to make money. So the price is probably right but i wont buy the game at this point maybe when they put it on sale or something, and ill buy it when they add sprint and pistons
Well, my Minecraft maps on PC run around an average of ~50 MB per world, and the default memory of an Arcade Xbox is 156 MB, I believe.
But flash drives are cheap and plentiful (Especially in 2-4 gig) and since the Xbox added flash drive support for additional storage, memory isn't an issue.
Microsoft doesnt account wat kind of HDD people have, they dont know waht size of HDD you have, so Memory is an issue. If the size of the HDD was standard then memory wouldnt be an issue, right now it is an issue
What if when creating the world your given the option of what size world you want. (Maybe even infinite size)
This would be good because then people with less free space on there XBox could choose a smaller world size, but people with flashdrives/harddrives could use a infinite world size.
The map size is good, but i have one query: me and my friend were hoping to build our house on a snow biome. But i cant seem to find snow. Anyone else having the same problem? :-/
are you serious dude?
1. map size is waaaaaaay to small
2. you cant find a snow biome because the map is to small and did not have the space to create a damn snow biome & therefore you counterdicted yourself and proven that minecraft should always be huge because of the huge biomes
ffs
Well, even with the Xbox's low memory, a way to optimize it would be to set the mob render/activity distance to something...well, not short but decent enough that popping over a hill doesn't cause a ton of creepers to spawn out of thin air.
That and particle effects are also pretty short range (Rain faded out after four-five blocks) means that, while infinite maps might not be possible, large scale maps are.
And really, infinite maps are kind of system hogs, has anyone actually walked more than a map or so from their spawn?
Well, for now, I've moved onto my second map which had a far more interesting world (About half is woodland, same for Desert, and the very small amount remaining is snowy), so it's all up to how the map gens. I know being stuck in a constant woodland biome with only slight elevation changes would be a tad...frustrating.
Really, we are even lucky to have it on the xbox. It's a great game, even with the map size. It can only get bigger, right? But itll expand eventually. Would you rather have lag or a decently sized map? Id take the no lag anytime. People need to find positives in this, not negatives. Its a great game still. But the world size will most likely get bigger!
The size of the world is not that small, but in minecraft you never want to feel restricted. The problem I have is that the world is rather small to support many different, large biomes. I'd like to get the full experience of minecraft on the 360, especially seeing as i can't play it on the PC. With this said, I would not be 100% satisfied with anything less than a world that takes an incredible amount of time and effort to reach the edge. No edge wouldn't be bad either. I hope other people see it this way.
This has nothing to do with the admins here. This site isn't run by Mojang and the admins are not Mojang staff.
Well the 360 does only have 500MB of unified memory, that's really not a lot, and Minecraft is a notoriusly memory-hungry game. Not saying that's the reason the maps are limited in size, but it's something to consider. More likely it's because of restrictions that MS place on file sizes. Also, as I stated, this is not supposed to be the full version of Minecraft; it's an XBLA game.
Comparing it to games like BF3 is not accurate. The architecture of the maps is totally different; BF3 is just a skin over empty space whereas Minecraft is made entirely from individual blocks.
For you maybe. For me the pc version runs at over 100fps so it's perfectly smooth.
For PC for me I only get 30-50 average so XBLA gets better for me
I do, I play it quite often actually. But I'm more than content with the immediate area within about ten minutes walking distance from my spawn, it's got all the caves to explore and resources to exploit that I need.
Honestly? I am very mad at the world generation being 1000x1000 for two reasons, after establishing a solid village for me and my friends to play in I decided to go and look for pumpkins and cactus. I get a map and start to explore, I hit my first edge of the world thinking alright, there is quite a bit of land in 1000x1000 I'm sure I'll find some cactus. About five minutes later I find my first 5 pumpkins. 30 minutes later there is a small bit of land that is not "revealed" by my map and I still have a tiny bit of hope, I finish exploring this last strip of unrevealed land, and guess what? No desert, no cactus, only 8 pumpkins in the whole entire map, this is not enough room to be exploring and since we are not able to grow pumpkins as the PC version can I only have 8 pumpkins until they decide to make the maps bigger. On top of that on the way home my xbox froze and I hadn't saved since the last time I mined diamonds and now my map is wiped.
Edit: My world has some pretty awesome world generation and I have already put alot of work into it, just to restart for some cactus. Looks like I can't be making green pixel art.
In regards to Biomes, there are two things they can do without increasing the map size.
Forcing map gen to include at least two biomes, or giving a check list of biomes to be included in the gen.
Although map size will likely be patched soon, so, hopefully it doesn't come to that. It'd be rather odd to stand on a hill and see every biome within a few squares of each other
We are lucky to have it on Xbox. Hence why I paid the price of the already existing game.
This world size is utterly unacceptable. Why would anyone WANT to be trapped in this tiny box? It takes away so much of what makes minecraft......well minecraft.
Pretend your tom hanks in cast away get a block of wood, name him Wilson, and pretend you got stranded on an island
No, that is a weak comparison. Neither of the two are rendered and built in the same way..
Well like someone said earlier how about Castle Miner or Fortress Craft they went on alot further than MC has it is not a question of if the xbox can handle it it obviously can just if the developers will make it infinite.

Curse PremiumThis would be good because then people with less free space on there XBox could choose a smaller world size, but people with flashdrives/harddrives could use a infinite world size.
Explain how it is please, because other people don't agree and say that the memory is not sufficient

fortress craft the best rip off did not do it
point invalid

For now, we're limited, but who's to say what's to come, 4J did promise to bring the 360 edition on par with the PC, given time.
For PC for me I only get 30-50 average so XBLA gets better for me

Good, I'm glad to hear that
