For me, this is exactly the reason I'd like a slightly larger world size, or linking worlds together.
I would like a much better chance to randomly find a world with every Biome in it, it is incredibly hard to do as it is now, and with the Java 1.7 on the horizon doubling the amount of Biomes, this will become exponentially harder with the current world size.
I really don't think that we'll be getting things like Mesas and Ice Plains Spikes anytime soon.
If so, I doubt I'll care enough to add Podzol and Packed Ice to the list of things I require in my SSP world.
That's too much effort then unless a solution like yours could be implemented somehow.
There are only 2.5 million members here total (all platforms).
Of those, how many are currently active?
Of those, how many currently post in the 360 forum?
Of those, how many said they want a bigger world compared to those who say the current world size is fine?
Sure it's a guess, but I think 1% is being generous.

soooo... by similar logic, only about 1% have voiced that the world size is fine or too large on the 360 platform also...
I think you need to limit your population to just the people who have voiced an opinion on the matter in the 360 section, not the entirity of the forum users.
1% / 2% is roughly 50% of the people who have voiced an opinion on either one of the 2 sides of the matter... and I think I'm being generous with that.
This is how you would solve bigger worlds on Minecraft 360 (Somebody might have already said it but I don't feel like going through 400 posts).
4J does a install to your 360. This install will create a file on your hard drive that either takes most of the system resources that run the game and use the file on the hard drive freeing up a lot of memory or the install makes it so it uses the file on the hard drive for bigger worlds (maybe even infinite if possible) I'm pretty sure they could do this but I am not 100% sure because I don't know what the code looks like but this would most likely be the only way. Also, I got this idea from GTA V because they use a install disk to put some of the game on your hard drive and that's why the world is so big and they can do so much stuff in the game.
Since the install disc is probably not feasible for people who already bought the game then a install would have to do. One more thing, the only downfall I see is people with 4 GB X-boxes probably couldn't get this update.
I don't need infinite worlds but I wouldn't mind about 4x larger. Only because I like the idea of it being a journey to get to the other side of the map.

More or less what already happens?! The game runs from the main file that is already on the HD; when you have downloaded it. They would make much different since the world files are already saved to the disc. usually 19-20 mb in size. It loads the world up in memory plus other various things.
Installing it will not make a difference when you have a disc copy. The thing you are installing will only be used for general mechanics and such, and then it is mainly only the world file that is loaded. There really wouldn't be much an increase between disc and downloaded versions.
That would not really solve the 360 for having bigger worlds. There are a lot more factors beyond the disc/game loading to consider... I am not really good at explaining that part as it has been done before by others; and more intricate than I could possibly articulate on that matter.
As much I would love to see this, I just don't see it happening. This is such an old thread though, which has repeated itself many times throughout. *sigh* oh well, that is what the xbox one edition is for when it comes out. Not that I would be able to play that costly bit.

Just you wait until you get a world without cactus.
I've had many worlds without many things. The basic "Survival Island" (ocean biome with 1 tree) world doesn't have cactus, doesn't have a variety of woods, doesn't have most animals... and yet it can be one of the more challenging and FUN survival worlds to play in. A true survival island world just doesn't exist on the PC... where you can just travel your way off your island and find everything in an almost unlimited quantity. Having the two platforms different from each other gives people an opportunity to play the game both ways if they want.
Ok, I'm new to this Minecraft Forum thing, and it's likely I'll say something that's not even related to the topic, like the sentence I just said, but all I can say about the size of the world is: I would like to have it a tad bigger, because I want more open fields to build, in, more scenery so I can admire it, more caves for more mineshafts, more nether for more Nether Fortresses, more area for more End portals, and just more area to discover. I like having all my memories (Good and will cherish) in one world.

4J already kinda gave as a expansion if you would say from 128 blocks to 256 height.(Air blocks!) But i would rather have a height limit at 128 and a 1268 X 1268 world

As Tamorr already pointed out, you are a bit off in your assessment, although you are correct that it 'can' be done, there are actually a number of ways this could be accomplished, not just one strategy. It is probably not going to happen, but for those of us that would enjoy larger worlds, we can hope (and without playing on PC or purchasing a new XB1 system as Geneo is likely to suggest).
As you have correctly surmised, yes, it has been discussed... multiple times.

So the makers of the Xbox One or PS4 Just expect us to buy the system just to get a better version of the game? I don't really care about the system's quality and multi-tasking uses. I just want it for what it's for: Play games.Don't really need another gaming system...

Yes.
I understand that you just want to 'play games', but the old systems are for playing old games.
If you want to play the better games, you need the better systems.
You know, sometimes an old system just can't handle the new games they're writing now.
What you're asking is for them to rewrite the 360 or ps3 versions to perform like, and have all the features of, a One or ps4 (including, for MC, larger worlds).
Can't happen.
The 360/ps3 versions will get minor upgrades for a while. Eventually they will be abandoned. Eventually you'll have to get a One/ps4 (if you're any kind of 'gamer' at all).
(Note I said "eventually").
Yes.

I guess .-. For now then, I'll stick with the current world size
Incorrect, Robloxius. Minecraft for Xbox is the only game I have downloaded under 6GB. So saying MS imposes limitations on file sizes may be true, but MCXbox is only about %2.5 percent the size of my other games, so that can't be the reason. Also, I paid $20 for Minecraft on my PC. The same amount I paid MS for it on XBOX.
The game is not hitting the 360's limit in respects to rendering, (GPU), and or as far as the CPU goes (processing power). The game is however maxing out the amount of RAM (memory), that the 360 has, and this is because the 360 is capable of holding the entire map in memory, every unloaded chunk you enter is loaded and stays in memory until either you turn off your console, or leave the game, thus in effect every chunk on the 360 can be thought of as a spawn chunk in respects to the PC version, in that it is never unloaded.
The map just can't become in larger without some serious overhauling to the engine, or upgrading all xbox 360's out there to have more memory, which we all known won't happen. 4J chose to hold all the map in memory for multiple reasons which is off topic, so I won't discuses it here.
How does the PC have supersized maps? Both versions have spawn chunks (a set number of chunks that will always be loaded, and never unload, but thats about the only thing the two have in common in respects to chunk loading/unloading mechanics. On the PC, the client, will request x number of chunks around the player. When the player moves north, some chunks to the south are unloaded, and new chunks to the north are loaded. The game uses MUCH less RAM this way, and trust me they need it as they have the java environment overhead.
So that in a nutshell is why we won't ever have larger maps, you want bigger maps, then either go play the xb1, ps4 or PC versions. Wishful thinking, venting and otherwise bellyaching just ain't going to do any good.
To add to what Cire said, with every design choice there's pros and cons.
"Larger" (infinite) worlds aren't all they're cracked up to be. The only people that ask for infinite worlds anymore are those who want to insure that have enough room to explore (with the One and ps4 versions the 'lack of resources' and 'room to build' excuses don't work anymore. Course a whole new world to explore is just a couple of clicks away, but that's beside the point).
Anyway, Cire is correct, but he didn't get into what that means to you.
* In 'infinite' worlds, the chunk is loaded where you're at- but any others are unloaded. What that means is the world 'freezes' if you're not around- things quit growing, machines stop working, etc. To me, this is a major con of infinite worlds.
* The way the consoles do it, the whole world is kept in memory all the time- therefore the whole world keeps right on going (crops keep growing, etc.) whether you're around or not.
That leads us to two things: ram and file size.
* Ram determines how big (or much of) a world can be loaded into memory- hince the larger worlds of the new consoles.
* (Save) file size limitation is set by the console makers and platform limits (how do you save a "infinite" size world? There ain't a HD that big out there.)
Bottom line is the world sizes for the consoles are already made as big as they can make them. Those requesting larger worlds for consoles are out of luck. Not happening. Those wondering why we can't, see above.
Don't get me wrong I'm all for bigger worlds, but I know that won't happen. I'd like to see 4J take steps to make resources that people use more abundant and or renewable such as being sold by villagers at a 'DECENT PRICE, such as stained and or hardened clay once it makes its debut, and also sand, sandstone, ect. Really hate destroying desert biomes to satisfy glass needs.
Diamonds are actually manageable now, in that villagers sell us tools, weapons and armor, that is once one unlocks them, though they do require that one acquires emeralds either by trading (my preferred method) or mining them in extreme hills biomes. However certain resources, mainly sand is slowly becoming harder and harder to find in my worlds, and thus alternate methods of acquiring them should be available to us. (and that means not jumping to creative either). This would solve a lot of peoples issues in that they can't get such as such of a resource because they don't have that biome. If some new villager was added whom randomly selected some biome and sold items from it then our problems would be solved as this would just mean that one needs to acquire that type of villager with whatever type of biome one wants to acquire items from.
I understand what you're saying (and suggesting), but wouldn't that make it too easy?
In real life we never have enough funds, favorite foods, wifi speed, etc. MC is the same. Sometimes you just have to either do without, substitute abundant resources in your world for rare ones, or make do with what you do have.
After all, that's what 'survival' means: "the act or fact of surviving, especially under adverse or unusual circumstances."
I don't like feeling caged..........
