Still kinda disappointed w/the world size. 4J did say all those months ago, on their twitter feed that they knew world size was a problem and would look into it after they finished all the updates. I'm still holding them to it or at least letting us know what the deal is
With rentable servers we could get a server to run off Microsoft and not us. This solves 2 of the Xbox's problems.
1. Better connection because your not running a game off your connection.
2. Bigger worlds because your Xbox wouldn't have to focus on running a server. The free CPU or RAM could then be dedicated to generating bigger worlds.
The way this is put, I think it would mean that there would have to be a completely separate version of Minecraft Xbox Edition written to run on the servers. The reality would still be that the majority of Xbox users would not be using the servers, so the game could not be written on the assumption that "free" CPU or RAM could be dedicated to generating bigger worlds. If it was written that way... anyone not using a server would just have their game crashing completely the moment it tried to generate that bigger world.

I put my shirt on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.
Well I am wondering they will just increase it for a version on the next xbox. I wouldnt be surprised if we have to get a new version on the new console but as my other games wont be compatible on the new system (no backwards compatability) it will be a while, lets hope we keep getting plenty of support for the 360 version not just a new one with bigger worlds.

I can't see them going to the trouble of putting out a next gen edition that only amounts to bigger worlds and some added "stuff" that the PC already has. I think the version on the next gen is going to have to be different from this version is a lot of ways in order to make it a front selling game on a console that is going to be so much more powerful than this one and that will be probably introdced with some really powerful games on it.

It would be silly not to get minecraft.
It's one of those games that doesn't age you can buy the new wizzabang halo's and COD every year but but two months later you'll remember minecraft.
I got halo at Christmas and its already growing old.
However battlefield 3 and minecraft are still my front running games.

I'm not saying that we won't get Minecraft... just that I don't think it will be limited to just bigger worlds and whatever "stuff" we're still missing from the current PC. I'm saying they'll probably pull a few secret rabbits out of their hat to make it even better than it currently is on the PC. They've already hinted at it by saying that they want to gear the Xbox Edition to more competitive gameplay and "take it in it's own direction."
I don't know if it's gonna be "better" or not… but it sure will be "different".
The ole "which version is best" debate will take on a whole new meaning.
Let me put it this way... Putting out the PC version on the new generation console is not going to be enough to sell new consoles to console people who are now older and principally Minecraft players and who enjoy games built on the same sort of nostalgic concepts and sandbox concepts as Minecraft (e.g. Terraria).
IF that is all of what they put out, I won't be inclined to rage about it like people have been raging about world size... I'll simply continue to play this version of Minecraft on my Xbox 360 and they won't get any more money out of me.
I don't see how PC Minecraft players will have much incentive either to try out the new console if the game is just advanced to be just like the PC version. They'll just keep playing on the PC (perhaps investing some additional monies to upgrade their PCs). Eventually, everyone will just get bored with the old sameo sameo; and Minecraft will just die out the same way a multitude of other great games have... Overtaken by other, more powerful games built on the same basic concepts but that do utilize the added power of the new technology to ITS best effect.
I think Mojang and 4J would be foolish to limit their thinking about Minecraft to this old world size debate and and cave to the complainers who are intent on keeping the Xbox version behind the PC version by forcing it to continually mirror the PC version exactly. It NEEDS to be allowed to go it's own way to truly grow and to be in any position at all to take advantage of the powerful new console that is just on the horizon.
The PC release of the game is always going to be the staple. The PC version is always going to be the one with the most features and biggest community. That's just how it is, they arnt going to alienate PC players by going 'oh yeh if you want to play the next minecraft release, you need to buy the next xbox'. The PC version is the original and is always going to be the go-to version for other ports of the game.
At the end of the day Minecraft XBLA is just that, a port, expecting it to be any more than that is just going to result in disappointment.
Then, as I said, I just won't be laying out money on a new console to play Minecraft nor will I likely become inclined to buy it for the PC I probably won't be the only one, so Microsoft, Mojang, and 4J all lose out on that new business and Microsoft won't have any incentive to be especially "supportive" of Minecraft any longer. They'll cater to the games that are going to sell new consoles for them.
I still won't be disappointed because I've already gotten my $20 worth out of this game; and whatever they do with this one going forward, I don't have to spend any more money on it unless they add something really worth spending more money on.
They've already got your money, what exactly are they going to be missing out on?
Duuuh... IF they don't limit themselves to the current PC version and they do produce a "Minecraft" that utlizies all the power of the new console and appeals to the console market group of which I am a part... then I would asay they would then be perhaps producing something worth spending more money on and I would perhaps be enticed to not only buy that version of Minecraft but the new console itself. IF it's just going to be the PC version, then I'm saying that would not be enough to justify spending even another $20 on the game let alone the costs of the new console itself.
On the PC, Minecraft was allowed to become a platform for modders to experiment with writing add-on programs, many of which (if PC lovers want to be honest) don't run all that well and don't really add much of "concrete" difference to the game itself. You're right, that "community" will probably keep adding onto the current vanilla PC Minecraft for years to come and will probably ensure that Minecraft hangs around on the PC for a long time yet. Whether that will produce enough additional income to satisfy Mojang as a business itself really depends on their business plan. Whether Mojang will continue to invest much of their own money and time into it's ongoing development also depends on their business plans; but I think the reality that PC users seem to be in denial about is that Mojang has been forming consortiums in order to put this game out on consoles and other alternative devices and has also been profiting from the Xbox sales of Minecraft in partnership with 4J and Microsoft. I'm banking that they find the possibility of making a lot more money through future console sales at least a little appealing and I don't think the PC mods make them as much new money now as the move to put the game on the Xbox and other devices has in recent times. It seems to me that Mojang recognizes that there is a lot of money to be made in the next generation console market, IF they put out something that will entice people to both 1) buy the new console; and 2) buy the game (either afresh or again) to play on that console. The PC "community" is really not all that much bigger now than the Xbox one - 10 million sale son PC vs. 6 million on Xbox; and PC sales now account for less than 1/2 of Minecraft sales across all the available platforms for the game.
Can't you just write down in one sentence what it is you were expecting to achieve from this thread? I still don't understand what it is exactly that your complaining about

When you guys go into your memory for minecraft for xbox it says the maps are from 10 to maybe 30 megabytes a piece I've only had up to about 25 so if the xbox has about 500 megabytes of RAM then it could definitely handle more than just 1000:1000 Its most likely just them not making the maps bigger due to time constraints...
