I think that the map size might be too small and I was wondering who else thought this and who thought that it was okay and why you think that it is good/bad. Also any thing else about this.
THE CURRENT WORLD SIZE IS
1MAP = 64x64 CHUNKS = 1024x1024 BLOCKS
Also please keep in mind that Minecraft for Xbox is still pretty new and you shouldn't expect changes like this to happen very soon much less in the next update.
Minecraft only renders a small section of the world at any given point, and the xbox is no different, so it is not being limited by hardware. Minecraft is actually being ported I think. Also other games have infinite worlds too, and Minecraft worlds don't exactly take up a lot of memory either. Also I they said that they will add most of the features from the PC version, but about a year behind.
If someone wanted a new area then where would it be? They would not ever be able to find a snow biome if they didn't start in one. Having such limitations would take away the granduer of Minecraft, how many vetrans that moved to a new base would like it if it was still in viewing distance of their old one. Plus, if the game is supposed to be catching up how easy is it going to be to find the strongholds? Also, even if there are that many diamonds in the world who is going to be able to find all of them. If people really want "Minecraft" then the world size has to be increased. I know that I for one was sad when I hit the edge, I lost some of my hope.
Guys, it can't have anything to do with memory. I'm about 99.9% sure they could and/or will increase the map size. The reasoning? Castle miner and Fortresscraft on Xbox have infinitely spawning worlds and they are indie games. I'm sure Minecraft can handle this and obviously the Xbox could handle it. I'm sure it will be updated to infinite worlds and if not, at least larger worlds.
1000x1000 block radius on a server I play on hosts 20 people quite comfortably. This is including individual (fairly big) housing, individual mines, some shared forests, and a general place to 'hangout'. I think 1000x1000 is sufficient enough for 8 people. But a possible increase to 2000x2000 would be welcomed, and probably the biggest we're going to get if they do decide to increase the limit.

Are you sure that the world is 1000x1000? In a post by Notch(i think) he said that it was 1 map size. there are 128 pixels on the map and each pixel represents an 8x8 space which would be 102x1024?
Or did they not use chunks for generation for Minecraft on 360?
I don't really care about how big the area is necessarily... my main complaint is the limited amount of resources. I won't be able to build anything that I planned on building because it is highly improbable that there are enough resources within that limited space.

I decided to round down, as it's much easier to type three 0's in succession as opposed to 024 in a dark room.
The current world size is not even 1024x1024, if you look closely the border of the 360 map ends much earlier than the border on the PC map. There is a lot of blank space on the 360 map near the edges. I believe the total map size is actually 768x768.

Too lazy to click the link? This is the math the Redditor came up with.
1024 x 1024 = 1,048,576 <-- Number of surface blocks. 1 chunk = 16x16 = 256 1,048,576 / 256 = 4096 chunks Average of about 3 diamonds per chunk, so 4096 x 3 = 12,288.
honestly it does feel a bit small because it seems sometimes you dont even spawn in the very center. i started a game and then walked a little bit and found myself already on the edge.
The map size itself doesnt seem say as small as the ipad /pocket version. but still. the problem is you still kind of lose a bit of that epic sized feel with such a smaller map. They could have had it where they could have had small sized maps for local split screen and then larger maps for single player or online.
The game code needs to be updated before they could even attempt that its currently glitchy with the current size, Im expecting it to take till this winter for this version to be expanded map size wise(rhyme not intented).

I'm more worried about the amount of sand... not diamonds. Even if I do get a desert seed there still may not be enough. Well mabye there would be if the entire 1000x1000 was sand for a couple of levels down.
Don't you think there's a reason why they limited the maps to that size? The 360 has very limited system resources and MS place a lot of restrictions on file sizes.
The point is, don't expect the maps to get bigger, ever. MCX360 isn't supposed to be as good as the main game; that's why it's an XBLA game and is cheaper than the pc version.
Still a hell of a lot more smooth than Pc version.
I love Minecraft Pocket Edition, more than PC Version, it's not because i don't have a good PC, i have an Mac Book Pro and it run smoothly, but i really hate sit front my computer for hours with keyboard and mouse, i like to play on sofa or in my bed. So how big is the world don't count for me, minecraft pocket edition is good, xbox 360 more than.
I would definitely be ok with the length of the map being doubled (so the whole world would now be 4 maps) IF this change could be done without causing lag, etc. The absolutely saddening amount of clay on the map is... saddening
I'd just like to point out that the map size limitation has more to do with storage space limitations than hardware power. Harddrives aren't standard on the Xbox.

What the Problem is
Definitely possible
If there is any official word please tell us.

To put it into perspective.

i'd be fine with 500x500 ffs, why would you need to go farther

Putting playstyle aside, the map is so small that people have been spawning worlds that do not have sugar cane or cacti.
Looks that way - sad really.
