I will be okay with the size as long as materials regenerate. I would hate having to new game just because all the ores an what not are used up. Even if the resources respawn time is weeks, that would be better than not at all. Does anyone know if mcx360 will be doing this?

Sorry man. That is impossibru. It would be as boring as your Grammy to mine that all out anyway.
Haha! I just did the same thing! It made me realize that is a freakin huge area and it helped with my uneasiness. I also noticed the pc maps (ones you have to craft) are only like 950X950 so they must have modified the maps for Xbox to make them the same as the world.
I only saw one person post about biomes waaaay back many pages. He has a great point, how else are they going to introduce new biomes to xbox without destroying already made maps. Restrict the initial size at first, then when more biomes are put in, the world will be expanded. It makes sense.

It would, but I'm going to keep away from speculation about that far into the future for now.
1) I'm a gamer, and I'm getting a kick out of these replies where you all think hard drive space has the same effect as RAM. Different xbox units may have different hard drive space (4gb -> 200gb) but we've all got the same RAM, and that's what's limiting the world size. Your huge hard drive isn't any help in how well or poorly your box is going to run as a server.
2) Worried about diamonds? In 1.6 diamonds were found between levels 2 and 17. Those 16 levels comprise 16,777,216 blocks of a 1024x1024 map. At a rate of 0.0846% diamonds, that's 14,1913 diamonds. (numbers courtesy of the wiki). If 8 people use up all those diamonds, I'm impressed.

Make a creative world in PC and make a map. Walk from edge to edge and imagine just how long it would take 8 people to mine all the resources in that area... it's pretty big, I wouldn't worry about it.
This ^^^. Exactly this, I'm not even worried about the size now that I've walked it.
I wanna try to build the entire island and then hollow out a bunch in the center and create an underground city too. There will be plenty of room!
This is what I am talking about, Haters will be haters and Griefers will be griefers and realists should get real!
THIS is why people should stop worrying about map size. I mean, There are probably three different area's that you will be able to build in/ around.
Underground, Above ground and in the nether, And i'm also sure that plenty of you would know how to survive in the nether just perfectly.
I am too not too happy with the map size but after all of this spending I am More happy than it coming out then to worry about the map size
Because lots of people are defining simple ways that the maps Will probably get bigger in the future but not as big I guess.
I mean I bragged and bragged for my mum to buy me an xbox for my birthday so I had a faint chance of getting Minecraft on it.
And with this final addition I am really happy to hear that online play will involve the headsets for use. This is going to be ALOT easier. since that I got an xbox elite and it came with a headset.
well i can see them updating to infinite or near infinte maps later when enderman comes into play. just seems too small to add npc villages and strongholds (you could easily find them giving xbox an edge over pc)
What probably happen was the code didnt covert over clean and caused too many issues and might be the reason they had to delay the release once already (and why it wont have kinect functions on release). So just calm down and if this "small" map is a cocern then just wait till you see them update the game and check out if they made it bigger.
The whole always a trial and the I HAVE seen all games with trials sorry my quote wasn't working correctly so its a bit changed
Okay i understand that the whole trial point you have but I myself have came across many indie and arcade games that had no trial you had to take a guess see a let's play or a friendly reference but you are right the trial will indefinitely not do much it will probs. only be about 5-10 min. long maybe less.
I'm confident it'll increase with time. With only 500 blocks from the center to the edge, it won't be able to catch up with the PC version, since Strongholds can only spawn about 500 blocks away, at least.

We have reason to be pissed over the world size, especially when you played a certain 240 microsoft points Minecraft-lookalike game in the indie section that has more feature and things to do then this garbage.
I mean, I do want this game to succeed. I hope they have plans to expand, not the only the size of the world, but the game itself to make it like the PC version... and no, x-box hardware limitation isn't a reason for this not to happen since that 240 MS game I'm talking about will get infinite maps in a future update.
Remember: this minecraft version will cost 1600 MS!! Which is about 20$, 6$ less than the PC version.
Oh yeah!
Me too bro!
Ugh! I hate saying bro seeing as I'm not a surfer.

lol you're right, they're huge...

I'm less worried.
Does anyone know how many trees would be there?
It would stink to run out of wood,

take a 0 off both of those and then you heard right.
