If I am correct it was said that the main reason the worlds are limited is due to split screen. Players should have the option to disable split-screen on their world. This way the world could be a tad bigger.
If a console can handle the information for 8 players it can handle the information for 2. It should actually be easier for the console to manage splitscreen then it would be for 8 player online games. It doesn't have to receive then send information to other places with splitscreen. It should actually be less work that the console is doing.

I'm usually not trying to be rude. So if a post comes across that way then sorry :]
We should be able to determine world size by the amount of gigs we want to use. I still have over fifty G's left on my normal white Xbox and I would gladly choose to use all the space on my hard drive to have a massive world. I never use the space on my hard drive so there should be a size option that just uses more memory to generate a huge world, the majority of the players enjoyed the large scale exploration part.
Yeah i agree, it should be based on the amount of memory you have. Maybe i only say that because i have nearly 300 G's of memory left, but that should be an option.
You know what i think is funny about this? Since I first made a map in survival on PC (a really long time ago) I never let myself leave that area for fear of getting lost since I only make one map. So the world being that big means nothing to me because I never leave that area anyway. I don't know why I do this, but I always have and it never felt small or restricting. I'm still happy with it. I just feel bad for the people who love to be nomadic.

True. Try the seed "Artomix" It's really fun, and it's an even smaller island than is in MC360.
Okay, if you are complaining, go program it yourself and I'm sure the dev's will accept it. What? You can't because the Xbox simply doesn't have RAM to handle an endless map? Sucks to be you.
If you've ever played pocket edition, you'll be glad to have a world even double that size.
You have something like demonstration version, you don't have most features(I think) like big maps for example, 4j still have time to add this, or it is in full version all ready.
Blah, blah, blah. I have to copy & paste this thing again.

The amount of memory on the Xbox isn't in any way a problem. You could fit tens of thousands of worlds in a single GB. It's the optimization that is required to produce an endless world that produces problems. Minecraft for PC is -obviously- coded in java, and the Xbox version needed to be ported to C++ because the Xbox does not support java natively. C++ runs games extremely well, and it is the standard for 99% of the gaming industry (CoD, Skyrim, Fallout, etc...), but it is significantly more RAM heavy. However an average PC would have 2-4gb of RAM, and minecraft only required about 512mb (in java), and while this is still a very small amount compared to say, Civilization V which is recommended 4gb, most computers have plenty, but unfortunately the extra resources required in C++ raises the RAM requirement as well, and to top it off, the Xbox has less RAM (under 1GB) than most computers, so the increased RAM requirement plus reduced available RAM pushes the Xbox to it's very limits as it is right now. The next generation Xbox, which is due very soon (4-5 months), will have so much more than the required power to play minecraft, infinite worlds won't even be a question.
Theoretically, minecraft should take significantly less RAM than it does, but optimization of RAM is a very tedious job, and it would take the small team of Mojang quite a while to properly reduce it by an amount that would make a difference. It basically requires going through every line of code in minecraft, and wherever there is an extra variable that wasn't cleared, clear it, as well as many many other things. And Mojang isn't even up to the XBLA version, that's an entire different team, and they have so much more to do than focus on optimizations.

I hope you are joking as this is quite possibly the dumbest idea ever in the history of mankind.
I don't have any way of getting internet because I live where cable companies wont run a line because not enough people live near so it wouldn't be worth their trouble because I guess they wouldn't make good money (I have asked multiple internet providers). So when something I want for Xbox comes out like say a update or game, I have to head into town to a friends house to use their connection for a quick download. That being said, I obviously can't multiplayer unless it's local splitscreen offline. So for people with the same problem as me, single player offline worlds should be bigger if the game isn't having to work as hard as if it were splitscreen. To all you buzzkills that keep being smartasses to the ones that want single player to be bigger, if you keep saying the size is fine and you don't care then if a developer happens to read comments they will say eh fuk them. Also why are so many of you on the rag, would it kill you if you didn't respond to people who just want the game better? Bunch of negative nancies.

Have you looked into satellite internet? Horrible latency but good download speeds. Better than nothing.
Okay, I officially feel alright about the world size.
I made a creative world in PC, flew around to fill in the map, and then walked from edge to edge (4:42 walking time - no sprinting).
That is a huge amount of world, I have never built or used anything close to that.
Now some people might have used that much in one of those huge servers with teleportation enabled; but with only 8 players, I think this world size will be fine!

Haha! I just did the same thing! It made me realize that is a freakin huge area and it helped with my uneasiness. I also noticed the pc maps (ones you have to craft) are only like 950X950 so they must have modified the maps for Xbox to make them the same as the world.

I like that, it makes me think of Lost (my favorite show) and the seed Artomix which is a really cool island seed.
Go back under your bridge.

Yes, they are still random.

Thanks man, that is a really cool seed. Reminds me of castaway type survival.

Great minds think alike!
My enthusiasm for the game is back up to 100%.
