Wait wait wait. The minecraft map thats given to you when you first make a world is for that area only.1024x1024 is for just that one map.If you go out of the map area and create a new map it will load more of the world on the new map.Trust me guys the world is bigger then 1024x1024.The map can only fit so much on it.
That's how it should have been but no you an invisible wall instead.

We know that a craftable map only fits so much. There is a video (if not more) in which the area shown by the craftable map is literally the only surface in the world. The end of the map is water and there appears to be an invisible wall. Unless creating a new map actually opens the real world more which is very unlikely.

Unfortunately that is the world size. Many people have the full version and that is the size they are reporting. I do hope it gets bigger in the future. I'm just excited to play at 60fps on my big screen.
It's a game with a strong exploration base, the newer PC updates were even made to encourage more exploring. Now I don't believe that worlds will always only be 1,000 blocks, but a lot of people obviously do and what's the point of having a game based on exploring when you can only explore for about half an hour before you've seen everything?
Minecraft is not about exploring, it's more about building and surviving... The small world size is not a problem because there will not be huge servers for PvP and such, a lot of people are buying this to just play with friends and for 8 people the world size is still fairly big and is enough room for everybody to build where they want without having to build right next to each other. If you don't like it don't buy it and continue playing it on the PC.
A finite world does imply finite "matter" (except for lava, water, cobblestone which could be infinitely generated). So scarcity may be an issue a long while after you and your friends first begin a new world. This means: Carefull what you craft/consume your iron, coal, redstone, gold, and diamond resources once you mine a big chuck out of that map.
Still, it'll be a while to get into that kind of a mess.
Yeah I just saw a video where the guy ran into a invisible wall after walking 4 minutes from spawn.Thats a load of bs yes I know the xbox cant handle much but we deserve a bigger world then this.
We should be able to determine world size by the amount of gigs we want to use. I still have over fifty G's left on my normal white Xbox and I would gladly choose to use all the space on my hard drive to have a massive world. I never use the space on my hard drive so there should be a size option that just uses more memory to generate a huge world, the majority of the players enjoyed the large scale exploration part.
i love that the games textures are so simple, but so extremely graphical at the same time. like, it takes alot to code and stuff. people keep talking about map being too small... on the surface... what about the caves? the underground? i have not seen anyone discuss this.

The underground is 60 deep.... its about 1000X1000 with 60 deep....
IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE DAY/NIGHT CYCLE!!!!! (it was on a review somewhere, i bet they were lying though)
WHERE IS OUR $20 GOING TO?
you can get
Castle Miner Z, Total Miner, and Fortress Craft
Together equal Minecraft... for 240 each... 720 for 3 games,
CastleMiner Z for survival aspect
Fortress Craft for Builing aspect
Total Miner, for exploration/mining
Paying $20 is so pointless, its not even funny.
But nothing is concrete yet. No reviews have said the Map length, and people that do say the map length can't prove that they had a code...
We will only be %100 the day its released.
So i am going to look at reviews the day its released before i spend 1600 point.
if the worlds not bigger, if the worlds not streamlined, and if multiplayer doesn't have servers,
I am not buying it, until all those happen. END OF STORY.
I read some where too that its only 120mb.
If someone says "you don't buy games solely on file size"
What if Skyrim was only 120mb... I wouldn't buy it..
Look at the Marketplace, Skyrim has less RATINGS then MINECRAFT...
120mb for a game that has been taking for a long to release, is just ridiculous.
There is nothing the game has to offer that is worth $20.
There are already videos on youtube showing the world size, and day & night cycles, whatever review said that was clearly lying.
It does seem a few reviewers are lying, I even read one that was literally reviewing the PC version, and was obvious the reviewer knew nothing about the Xbox 360 version. He said that The End, and Ender Dragon were in the game, and that the Xbox 360 version had a hunger bar, when anyone who has followed the 360 version even slightly would know this wasn't the case. If he had even played the 360 version, or looked at screenshots he would have known there was no hunger bar.
It was a review from some site called XboxAddict, I found the review on Metacritic.

Uh, they can't prove the game they got wasn't a Jtag xbox...
Show me 1 youtube video that proves that they got a code. i need PROOF...
the only way you can prove this, is by the person showing themselves putting in the code, and it saying "minecraft" and them downloading it....
without this, there is no proof.
1 person out of all the videos i have seen, claimed that they got a free copy, and did a review on it... which is a big company we can trust... but he didn't show the world size...
show me a Company we can trust, that says "this is a free early copy of the game, and THIS is the world size"
thats the only proof we can use.
Exactly. And why is he crying about the 120mb size? Last time I checked, vanilla Minecraft is only like 40+ mb or so.
Oh well. If he doesn't want to buy it, so be it. I'm buying it.
"vanilla Minecraft" wtf?
If we assume all the information we have is correct... then Go ahead, and waste your 1600 points. when you could get 3 games that are better for 240 each.

Sheesh kid, calm down a bit.
Yes there is a day/night cycle, 99 codes have been given out and reviewers have had the game too. Many of those people have posted videos, you can choose to believe them or believe in some conspiracy if you want.
Nobody is forcing you to buy the game... keep playing on PC if you want... or not.
And BTW, I personally can't consider those knock-offs to be better than real Minecraft.

I want something official stating if world size will be expanded, because this just doesn't seem big enough to me.
You have a good point, with the amount of diamonds in a 1024x1024 world would be hard to split between 8 people as-well.
