It's a game with a strong exploration base, the newer PC updates were even made to encourage more exploring. Now I don't believe that worlds will always only be 1,000 blocks, but a lot of people obviously do and what's the point of having a game based on exploring when you can only explore for about half an hour before you've seen everything?
yeah, youre right, so, we can hope from a future update with big maps?
I don't see the point of the Nether in a world this size. Before Nether Fortresses were added (for Netherwart and potions), the sole point of the Nether was for quick travel. So the 360 Nether is essentially useless as the world is so small.
And to everyone saying "Ah, you'll buy it anyways." Well, maybe, but that's not the point. The point is, we were told we were getting Minecraft version 1.6.6. This is not the same.
Also not the point, it's big enough for a single person for a few weeks, but not for 8 people for a few months. And it won't get any bigger if everyone is complacent.
What some of you people fail to realize, is that these things called updates exist.
Perhaps they plan to update the game a bit after it's released? Aside from the actual confirmed updates obviously.
Maybe they knew they were going to release it early to some people, and purposely kept the map small, as a kind of /demo/ early version. And they plan to make it bigger with updates?
Even if that's not the case. My point is still valid. They COULD update with bigger worlds at a later time. Chill out.
Besides, even if the world is somewhat small..do you really NEED huge, near-infinite worlds? Who the hell actually uses that much of the world anyway? I know in my case, I usually build a house near spawn, and build whatever I need near my house. Knowing me, it'll probably be surprising if I even hit the edge of the map.
Not to mention, you have the whole nether to build in also. Maybe this'll give people who didn't go to the nether much on PC, a reason to go there on 360. More building room.
Here's an idea for everyone having a problem with world size. Wait till it comes out. Don't buy it right away. And watch some "Let's Play"s of it first. You know there's gonna be a ton. See how the people play on the world, and see if the world size effects much. Instead of flipping out over it, wait patently. You could also just wait till it comes out, and download the trial.

World size bothers me , but at the same time it doesn't. In the pc version im forced to pretty much stay within a small section of a map because the more world I render the more laggy my game gets. Kinda had to deal with it already so I guess it wont kill me too much.
That's not the point. The point is, most of us have Minecraft PC and have played in worlds and know what this size of world feels like.
And nothing will change if we all just sit and wait, and then choose not to get the game. We want the game on 360, we also WANT THE GAME on 360. This limited version isn't Minecraft 1.6.6.
Are you sure there will be a trial?I know this tends to be standard practice but i thought it would of been hard to regulate as a trial verion
ie: they gave you an hours trial and in that amount of time you wouldnt be able to do jack ****,therefor a trial would be pointless
There's ALWAYS a trial. Every arcade or indie game i've seen has a trial. And a trial isn't meant to let you do a ton, it's meant to let you see the basics of the game. Moving around, breaking a few blocks, placing some blocks. Maybe making a tool or two. Just basics.
This. Been following an J-tag let's play for a month now, and it is still fun to watch. The guy made a village, a big mine and a mob spawner. And didn't build the map full like you guys are almost suggesting
That's because it's only been a month. Have 8 people building and in 6 months...eh.
I wasn't expecting this to be anywhere near as large as the PC version, but I was expecting at least 4x the size that it is. I may wait on this now, to see if future updates and optimization will improve this, or wait for a sale. This now goes from endless fun, to about 20hrs of fun, by the time I build anything worth being happy about, there will be nothing left to do/explore in the game.

I don't think so. People seem to be forgetting that there's more to the world than the surface (I've found the true elegance of 1.8+ worlds to be in caves) and even then the shortage of land is being hugely exaggerated.

Yeah like there is tons of space to build, and i think this hole thing is going too far. I believe this game will be just as good as it would be if it really where endless. Anyways when i make a world i usually dont travel farther than 700 blocks, with the exceptions of large overdone servers with hundreds of players which has ravaged the land compared to up to 8 players in the xbox version. And i most likely wont have more than 4 of my friends playing at once soo...
I'll most likely still be buying it. The world size is a bit disappointing, but it's possible they'll increase the size eventually. And even if I do end up exploring the whole world, I could always just create a new world if I get bored of the current one. Hopefully there's not a low limit on the amount of worlds you can have(like only being allowed 3), that would suck.

that is the problem though, some people, like me, don't want to start a new world, we want to be able to build up one single amazing world for 200+ hrs, and build minecarts to far off villages and whatnot. Not explore build and get bored of everything to see in 20hrs or less.

That I understand. I've seen tons of awesome worlds on youtube and stuff, where there's multiple villages, castles, strongholds, underwater cities, harbors, pirate ships, floating islands, and all kinds of other stuff, all in one world, designed to all fit together. Can't really do that in this. You can make a few smaller villages and various locations, maybe a castle or two. But you can't really do much really far off stuff.
One problem I can imagine with this..is that I don't think there's gonna be a huge ocean or anything. It's just a guess, but it seems like there's not really enough room for one. So there's going to be a serious lack of underwater structures, unless you make an artificial ocean over half the map...which would take ages to make.

They just confirmed that they are the full release versions. Info is in another thread.
