Those who are disappointed with the map size are overreacting.

YAY Stem ...ditto this changes nothing for me because it is a game that WILL grow .We know this for fact maybe not world size off the bat but Im sure they will take it into account.
If your thoughts are on thiers about money....3 mo down the road and every one has filled thier entire land with buildings and quit......they will notice.
i dont get it. is the world size going to be big or small?
Small but it's whatever you make it out to be. To me it's just fine.

what so 1024x1024; that would seem like it'd suck but...
if you played skyrim in the first month of release (before patches etc) you may have encountered extreme save ruining lag after about 100 hours of playtime.
I assume 4j had similar problems with huge map sizes, skyrim fixed their issue by limiting the size of the save file (every now and again certain dungeon/area will delete player changes from the save file)
so to avoid crippling lag and lose hours of play like i did in skyrim, dont mind this map restriction quite so much
I suppose this means that mob grinders in the corners of the maps would be even super effective
Map size? Wow, that seems big to me, even for 8 people. Seems like it took me forever to "unfog" the last one.
You all can gripe if you want, but I think you'll deal with it.
(Total Miner is getting "infinite" world size in the next update or two, so don't count TM out yet).
can you make a comparison to the pc version or to total miner?
I've never played the PC version but compared to Total Miner it looks large. If I had to make a guess I would say about 5x larger than Total Miner....for now as Geneo said above.

Smaller than small. The pencil to the moon comparison earlier in this post wasn't a bad one. In the video i watched it took a guy roughly 5 minutes to walk from bottom to top of the map. This includes about 1 minute of scaling a small mountain with next to no horizontal movement. Using 5 minutes exactly, the world would be about 1300 blocks from one edge to the other. taking out climbing time makes it closer to 1,000 blocks.
Does it meen that multiple maps cant be made and that it only fills one map???
You know the size of the world in one of the PC maps? It's that size.
No, you can't make multiple maps and extend the world.
So on one hand you have the "It's that big? That's cool! Bigger than I thought it would be!" people.
On the other hand you have the "It's only that big? How lame!" people.
Both camps will end up dealing with it when it's all said and done.
Every one is freak`n out over NOTHING, it will change. they cant have a world that size and expect to incorperate the newer bioms with out a huge upset of player loosen thier worlds. The logic is there ...stop freak`n out .

PS: I like MMA more then Stemm
It's impossible to stop them from freaking out. I'm sure everyone who says they will not buy it, will end up buying it sooner or later. Kudos for trying though.

Alright, so I just completely filled in a map in a normal Minecraft world, and it took me about 23 minutes. Subtract about 10 seconds because I fixed a tree that was missing a base, and add about a minute for the times when I used flying to get over a mountain or sprinted. So it would take about 25 minutes of simply walking across the landscape, doing nothing else, mind you, to fill in only the surface of the map. Then factor in the amount of time you will spend mining (adding in the vertical component), building (adding in user-generated geometry), and farming, and you see that a Minecraft map contains more than enough land.
It's a game with a strong exploration base, the newer PC updates were even made to encourage more exploring. Now I don't believe that worlds will always only be 1,000 blocks, but a lot of people obviously do and what's the point of having a game based on exploring when you can only explore for about half an hour before you've seen everything?

Also the reason I know this info is because I got one of the codes earlier today.

that would be 1024x1024 blocks. Pretty damn small if you ask me
thats the point, you WILL see an entire xbox world, which is exactly what a good lot of people don't want.
