Just curious as to what is recommended for the best 360 available??? The new Star Wars bundle for example??? I'm looking to buy or "upgrade" since all 3 of my 360's have a disk read error within a years worth of use. I'm limited to arcade games unless I creatively tap to get my system to load games.... Anyway, since my Tax refund will be flipping the bill, I was just wondering if a newer slim/kinect 360,250GB system is the way to go or.... should I just pick up a $50 refurbished core system??? What version are YOU using????? Oh and a side note... will the transfer cable work to copy my content to a newer system ( I assume it works the same with saves and usage rights) If nothing else, please just post your currant system and HD size/ memory available..... Thanks for reading and responding.
Do you like question marks?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Anyways, I don't think it matters at all, 'long as you have your console updated to the latest version.
If you're short on cash: used console from Gamestop.
If you're flush with cashola: one of those new slim models that they came out with a month after I spent $100 sending my old console in to repair red ring and a little over $100 for a bigger harddrive. Then they came out with slim and I could have spent my money on that but nooo... I'm still a little bitter... I'll get over it someday...
Just get a cheap used one, it doesn't really matter as long as the harddrive is big enough for all the games you want to put on it. You might not even need a transfer cable; you can redownload the download games by signing in to the xbox live account you purchased them from, and if the saves you want to transfer are less than 512MB, you can just save them to the cloud.
Thanks Sonic I'm lookin at at least 50 GB of HD space though (just game saves, Not counting dashboard and and mandatory used memory). The Cloud saves do help BTW. I almost bought a refurbished unit 2 days ago for 30 bucks but, I want something that will last more than 1 year, Not fail when the warranty is up I REALLY appreciate the intelligent input. The question still remains.... What is the BEST 360 Version to own right now and what are YOU playing on??? A question for all users......
If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 90% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 10% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens..
to actually answer your question, the best would be the slim 250gb, w/o kinect (i think kinect is useless and the choice is either a 4gb or 250 gb hard drive). I'm playing on the mw2 edition console w/ 250gb hd. Also, i would NEVER get a refurbished console.. you're just asking for it to breakdown when you do that. refurbished electronics, consoles and laptops specifically, tend to almost always suck complete ass. stick out the extra hundred bucks or two and get a new one.
and what the hell did you do to go through that many 360's that fast? i know the company is probably at some fault but there comes a point when you need to reconsider how well you take care of your console (like when you're gearing up for your 4th one).
TN55- I agree on the care part but, anyone on my friends list can vouch, I am on-line 95%of the time adding to MS Planed Obsolescence of Core and Arcade systems. I find the most valuable info here is recommending the 250/350 slim version. Believe it or not guys/gals other games do exist. I think Kinect is worth owning BTW. Most folks that disrespect a product do not own said product. Anyway, with a bit of my own research I may just blow the 400+ on the latest and greatest bundle. Remember..... A few years back they said 60GB would be the biggest Hard Drive ever available, Well........ Maybe they have plans for us to spend more money updating again. Just saying.... Now an old HD wont even plug in to newer Slim systems but, they won't fail on you the day your warranty expires......... I guess we'll see. Now, I could have any of my currant systems Refurbished fot 100-200 dollars or pay 50 bucks and slap on my HD to an already refurbished system.... Same problem either way, eventually it will fail. MY 15+ year old ATARI 2600 still works flawless and Robbie the robot will still spin a top so, Is it to much to ask which version will NOT die after a years worth of gaming????

dont ever buy a used system that uses discs, you dont know what its been through and whats been done to it so you could get it and the reader go out immediately
that said I have an arcade with a 20g HDD and ive had no problems with it except for the door
I run a 250g slim, wife had a 4g slim and had to kick out for a 250g HD swap once I yelled at her.
This is my 3rd box, my first was a 1st gen disk read error in one day, second one 1st gen still runs today.
My strong advice is to install EVERY game while your curantly playing it.Id sugest a 250 slim, forget the kenect its just a gimmic right now, nothing will stop you from getting it in the future.
Also sugest wired paddles, just a prefrence more than a technical thing. You might even consider cannibalizing your 3 consoles into one that works.
^^^^^^^ Thank You All !!! I knew this section of the forum had a few decent folks. Never thought of doing the 3 into 1 idea. I think I decided on a slim 250GB ( Makes no sense to only have a 4GB IMO) That's less than 3 big arcade games..... I do want to hang on to my 1st gen arcade version only cause it has the original dashboard (future Jtag possibly) I agree about being wired too. Guess I'm a bit old school. As for Kinect...... Still undecided. I know it's a marketing peripheral now but, I do like the video conferencing and voice recognition. Hell, I bought and still own a working Virtual Boy. Keep this going if you guys want. Let us know what version has worked best for you or, let us know your experience with XBOX failures..... RROD/ Disk Read etc... Thanks again guys/gals
