Well either way its going to have to be updated to be the same as the PC version anyway if they are going to have them run on the same servers. But I really cant see how that is going to work...
what EVERYONE needs to realize is that it's ****ing minecraft. this isn't crysis or some crazy **** like that. obviously modern top-end computers will out perform a 360, what you stupid shits don't realize is that that is completely irrelevant. you don't need a top-of-the-line system to play minecraft on max settings, which isn't even on topic. The fact that the 360 version is being optimized to run on the 360 and the 360 itself is optimized for gaming is irrelevant as well to this topic. Infinite world's WILL NEVER be present on either the PC or 360.
Unless someone has an infinitebyte hard drive, nobody will EVER have an infinite world. ITS NOT ****ING ROCKET SCIENCE. LRN2LOGIC.

That's what I've been trying to say. Infinite worlds is WAY too much for any system to handle, but unfortunately I've been forced to use the "hardware" argument on one select individual because of his stupid comment in order to get through his thick skull, which has caused all this **** to go down...
I didn't mean to turn it into a flamewar, but I had to make that statement in order to get across the main point: Infinite worlds will not work on ANY system, top-of-the-line or Xbox, it's way too much to process.
ive seen games with infinate worlds on the 360 its not impossible so i dont know why they wouldnt make minecraft infinate
Name one that has been proven to have truly infinite worlds. Name one that will actually NEVER end, no matter how long you walk in one direction. Because it's impossible to render that much on even a ****ing $10,000 PC, let alone an Xbox 360. Too much to process, and it will drag down the frames with it.
Let me just say i could always tell you because be it that the games are completely different total miner an indie game is getting infinite worlds in it's next update so when the next update comes i could always tell you or you could all be patient and wait for it to come out and find out yourselves i myself already have the ms points to buy it p.s this wasn't directed at you MDawg
They dont even have infinite worlds on the PC!
The pc version creates a map with the spawn in the middle, extending 32,000,000 blocks in each direction. After that there is unredered land that you simply fall through into the void.
Computers hardware depends on the computer you have or built. My computer is outdated and worse than the xbox 360 but can still run minecraft.
Also, I've skimed over the minecraft system requirements and the xbox 360 specs. The 360 can run it.
Believe me when I say that system requirements aren't always the cause for having trouble with getting softwear to work correctly.
They will make the worlds as big as they can without running into problems. Nobody is going to be able to calculate the limits of a peice of hardware. They can only guess and test it out. And then throw their keyboards at the wall when something isn't quite working as they wanted... or just live without it.
The only difference between the 360 and a computer, is that the 360 consumers will all have the same peice of hardwear.
Alot of ppl think it is all about hardware.. not true. Alot depends on the coding and how they set it up. Easy as that.
Dont need to look further then PS2 + SoTC etc to see an example.
Its so funny when PC newbs/nerds also always says automatically that a PC with e.x 5 year old hardware is ****... Truth is, it still can play all of todays games without problem and smooth as long as you have build the PC yourself with good budget quality items.
I wish people would stop talking about "infinite" vs finite. It's totally not the point. The point is, will you reach the end of the maps on the 360 version? That is all that will affect you. You definitely will not reach the end on the PC version - but will you on the 360? That's the question. There's a huge difference between
PC - so big that you will never reach the end, even if all you did was play Minecraft your whole life
Xbox - so small that everybody will reach the end if they explore for 5 minutes
why can't people see the difference? It doesn't matter if you call it infinite or not, the difference is obvious
I agree. Neither have had or will have infinite worlds, so all that really matters is how large the worlds are. Personally, as long as I can go a reasonable distance without hitting the edge, I will be satisfied. And I have heard (don't quote me on this) that the worlds will be 10,000x10,000. I am not sure if that is the case or not, but if it is, that is large enough.
I'm not at all saying that the Xbox's hardware is horribly horrid, even if it is 6 years old. It can still handle today's games perfectly and still look pretty good in the process. But it can't come close to handling infinite worlds. The PC version can't even handle that much, which is why I'm getting a little irritated by some people because they keep saying that it is possible on an Xbox 360.
On Xbox 360 how big will the worlds be then, in comparison to the PC version?

When you say 10 000 x 10 000, is that 10 000 blocks x 10 000 blocks, or is this a different measurement?
The Xbox 360 only has 512mb of RAM. Just keep in mind that this is shared with the CPU and also the GPU. When the game is more intensive on the CPU compared to the GPU, the CPU can take up to 70% of the total RAM in the Xbox 360 which equals 358.4MB. These days, most computers have at least 4GB of RAM or above. Thats 8 times the RAM of the Xbox 360, which is still stuck in 2007. When I play Minecraft on my PC, I have about 910MB of RAM dedicated to Minecraft in Minecraft 1.7.4 without changing any of the settings in RAMdisk or any programs like that. IF the Xbox 360 had 910MB of RAM, I would think that it MAYBE would have (LARGER) worlds. And just by the way, Minecraft worlds are NOT infinite, they are just really large. http://www.pcgamesn.com/minecraft/just-how-big-minecraft-world-big-it-turns-out
I don't get why this question is even being asked.
Even the new consoles won't have 'infinite' worlds. Why would the 360 (or ps3) have them?
Maybe, after a few updates, the new consoles might get infinite worlds. I don't think it's a priority. Maybe for some of you it is, but for basic gameplay- it's just not that important.

by the time they will, although it's already been anounced that the world will be around 3000x3000

...I'm sorry, what?
Your point?
Just because MInecraft XBLA starts at 1.6.6 doesn't mean it's going to have all the bugs of Minecraft 1.6.6 of PC.
Since when -.-" ?

NAO!!! IT'S 10,000 X 10,000 INCHES!!!! HERP DERP
It's in moble format. Sorry.
