EA has about 217 times Mojang's budget.
Plus, its not like 'dedicated servers' would be any good on 360, then there would be no point in buying it because it would be JUST AS HARD to play with your friends as PC.

So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause.
Well the point to it would be to have a persistant world even if I didn't have my Xbox on so my friends and family could still play in said world, and connecting to a friend's personal Minecraft/BF3 server is not hard at all.
The point about EA having a bigger budget than Mojang is null since they would be "renting" the server to the player, hence making money off it too.

I don't think you fully realize what would go into that. As much as I would like it to happen too. Unless microsoft sees how profitable it is and intervenes, and is like "Oh man, uguise are makin some money, want sum servers ;D"

So true mojang only has 3or 4 games I think ea has been around sine the first xbox i be leave
The whole rent a server on BF3 has ruined the game. Would not like to see it for minecraft, but considering they have no open ended servers to begin with (friend or invite only kinda setup) I fully doubt rent-a-server will be implemented in minecraft xbox edition.

The whole idea of server renting is to allow you or your friends/family to play on the same persistant world, even if everyone is not online at the same time. Without servers if I host a map no one will be able to play if I go offline or vise versa with friends/family hosted maps...
They are discussin it, so its not imposible. There is a possibility. Through, IF they will try it, I think they will do it after coming up-to-date with the PC version. And that will be fine for me...
they just let people rent there already dedicated servers.
any company can do that. they just dont.
they have A server and even that doesn`t run "minecraft server software" it is only to validate minecraft accounts on pc that try to enter servers (and the website)
If the cost was right I would rent a server for Minecraft, however seeing as they would charge what they did for BF 3 servers (I rented one of those for 3 months as well) I doubt I could swing that kind of cash for minecraft.
I think it was 91or92 In the early years of Sega Genesis if i remember correctly(I was 8)
I remember playing Madden on the Genesis too...thanks for making me feel old lol.
In all seriousness though they've already tweeted that they're talking about renting servers right now so we'll hahe to wait and see what happens. I doubt 4J is going to cover all the cost though and if you want this luxury you're going to have to pay a monthly subsciption for it, I think that's fairly reasonable since servers cost a lot of money and it would take quite a bit of them considering Minecraft sold like 1 million copies.
Oh and by the way...comparing EA to 4J is hilarious. EA is a juggernaut in the gaming industry and 4J is practically a nobody.

What are you? 9 years old. EA has been around since the early 1980s. I used to play EA games on my commodore 64.
