Looky there! Once they finish with the mod API 4J studios will have to implement it since it will be a part of an update to the real minecraft. Yes it wont be for a very long time but it will be worth it once they do.
What do you mean they "will have to implement it"? They most certainly do not.
Does the xbox have to have infinite worlds? No.
Does the PC have to include auto-crafting? No.
Will the PC have to include xbox's "exclusive content"? No.
Two different companies, two different games, two different platforms, two different versions. There's no way they can be exact duplicates of each other. They'll be close, but they will always be different.
Mods can and do extend the lifespan of a game, which is good. And considering that some stuff that's now part of vanilla MC started out as mods (e.g. pistons), having no mods at all for MC360 is a bit of a bummer. Still, the game is pure awesomeness even in "vanilla mode", and I was 99% sure that there wouldn't be any mods for it to begin with. Still a bit disappointed, but nothing too tragic.

Is it a chicken or is it a duck? - It's a chuck, because dicken sounds stupid.

Jeb is working on a mod API. That part is correct.
But for the PC, not the xbox. Jeb does not work on, or have anything to do with, the xbox- 4J does (and they are not working on any mod, much less a API).
Hmmm...sorta disappointing, but I wasn't really planning on playing the Xbox version much anyway. I already paid $30 for the one on my mac, so I'm not buying another. Plus I think it might be hard for me to stop playing the 53 MODS THAT I ALREADY HAVE!
Anyway, it seems logical that you can't mod an Xbox.
Mods are entirely possible. Sure, we cant make them, but if the community wants, say, the Technic Pack, and there's a large demand for it's perfectly fine for 4J to release it as DLC. They'll just have to get the makers of the Technic Packs (I think it's various mods) permission to host it on the xbox.
And of course it wont be free since 4J will be investing their time in it.
Im not so sure they would legally have any obligations to P.C. modders even if they did rip them off.
First of all they are re-writing the code in a new language so none of the original modders code is actually used.
Secondly I was under the impression that Minecraft modders don't own the rights to their ideas, otherwise lets face it, there would be nearly nothing that Mojang could add to the P.C. version as it has nearly all already been done.
Did the guy that made the piston mod get compensated by mojang when they officially added it to the game?
I dont see why they cant make mods as DLC, like some of you have said. I dont think the word "mods" is a good word for what they are, and people overlook that. They could add some stuff from Buildcraft (as an example because thats one of my favorite mods) as DLC that adds new items to the game, in just the same way as Modern Warfare 3 has DLC for adding new maps. There is no difference, your just paying for new things to be put in your game.
Vanilla is the best, people who play minecraft for the mods/aka, won't get it because of no mods. Are not real "miners" It's how vanilla is, but I think on the PC version, they've gone too far with all this, if Notch didn't step down... There probably wouldn't be nether fortresses, npc villages, The END. I mean, I kinda wish those things weren't added,In minecraft, aren't we supposed to be alone in a vast world and we have to strive?

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.

They will however eventually update the game to 1.4... the update with the mod API. I think that's the only time mods will have the slightest possibility of actually making an appearance.

It has been confirmed, there will be no mods in Minecraft Xbox. It was announced at PAX East.
"400 Achievement Points; patches will be released on an ongoing basis (not like previous xbox games), but slightly behind pc in development. No modding will be possible, except community features - for example, you can join friends' worlds, which save themselves, and you can return to them later. The tutorial demonstrates the crafting table, creating tools, preparing for mobs at night time."
------ Video from PAX East.
That video is so old plus THEY HAVE said things on there twitter feed about getting mods. And here is my reason. Mod is a term we have to use to use because we have to go in and modify our game if a company actually puts that in there it becomes DLC(downloadable content). So this is my reason on why there will be mods on minecraft 360.

Oh. My. GOD. Did you have to bump this 4 month old thread that isn't even RELEVANT anymore?
... Why dont you try posting in threads that arent from 2 months ago?
But 4J is looking into adding a pack of mods as DLC. So yea, there will be mods, you just cant make them...
