I'm actually 100% fine with this. Given that the 360 has zero history of mods it doesn't come as a surprise. For example Skyrim on the PC has mods, the 360 does not. Same with Left4Dead.
It's kind of an industry standard not to expect mods on console versions of a game.
Mods have always expanded a game in new and innovative ways. I love vanilla minecraft. It’s what I play 90% of the time. on the other hand me and my little brother love the yogbox mod matchup and I was optimistic that xbox would ever get any. (A guy can dream right?) But there’s some good money in it for modders if they could put their mods on the xbox via DLC. More money to modders is great. Mostly because I’m a modder.
Anyway, I’m sad that mods will never reach the xbox addition… oh well.
Mods are anoter outlet for creative customization, it would be like tony hawks pro skater without the park editor sure you can still skate, and it would still be great, but i believe the choice should be available for those who actually care about it, if you dont care no mods are being added great vanilla the crap out of your game, but theres a level of freedom in mods i dont believe should be taken away because certain people just dont care about them.
I'm glad, Then I'm mad. This actually makes you experience Minecraft just by its self with nobody other ideas than Mojang's. I completly understand why they didn't add any mods. But it would be cool to have fun add ons to the game, because the original game does get boring after a while.....
Honestly, there are morons who think a company can actually put mods on a Console?
Mods are "USER CREATED" (all caps so you few pea brains out there),that means 4J Studios would have to go through the trouble of contacting the makers of a mod, get all of the code, sounds, textures for the mod, convert it from Java to C#, pay out of the wazoo to make it DLC,have people gripe because the mod doesn't work like it does on the PC etc.
don't really care, thats the BIG difference between Xbox and PC, mods are great and all but everyone knows that n e kind of modding on the box is an insta-ban if you get caught.

I agree.
People assume that they'll be able to find free mods on the internet just like they do now, load them up on a flash drive, and load 'em up on your xbox. Yea, right.
All those guys who wrote your beloved mods... now they have to redo them in C+... if they have the ability. After they do all that work, you guys expect them to give it to you for free? (If they do they're idiots).
is anyone going to point out this video is from PAX east that was in april? since then 4J and Mojang have talked about the possibilities of putting a mod api on both MCX and MC for PC. And recently on the live stream with carpenter, he said he could not talk about mods, but they fall into the same category as Skins and Texture packs.
But that isnt to say that there will be mods available...i will be skeptical but hopeful until it has been officially denied.

Wow, that's pretty cool. I might download it.
What!? Pretty cool? This is amazing! I mean totaly Jizzinmypantsandeatyourbabaiesforlunchandrapeanythingthatmoves amazing! I love this and going to download now!
Personally I don't care too much about the mods because Minecraft is still an incredibly fun game without them. Although I do agree that the xbox version will be more of a social game instead of being the paradise for creativity that it's supposed to be.
In other words if you're looking to have some fun with your friends this game isn't bad but if you want to build to your hearts content you should probably get the PC version instead.
I don't really care that you won't be able to mod. To me, people who mod are bored with MCV(vanilla) and use mods to keep themselfs interested. If mod'ing is a make or break factor for you well thats just funny to me lol. Minecraft is good because of its simplisity. But I hope they can give Texture Packs. But I still won't cry over spilled milk...
To be honest, it was kind of a downer to see all the mods for Minecraft, as I was intending to purchase for the PC. I had only heard great things and it looked like a lot of fun. Though, in the long run, now that I've been playing it nonstop after work with a few local friends of XBL, it's just fun working with what we got. If the community could string together skins, graphic packs or subtle mods that could run for that independent player while others are using the mods of their choice, it would be nice.
Overall, I have fun playing it as it is. If anything else, avatars would be choice. 5 - 10 piece customization on limbs, torso and head, it might be kind of nice to have a persona to your Minecraft experience. If not, Steve it is!
Looky there! Once they finish with the mod API 4J studios will have to implement it since it will be a part of an update to the real minecraft. Yes it wont be for a very long time but it will be worth it once they do
Whats the downloadable content then? I'm not saying that this is mods, but there seems like there will still be some sort of add-ons
That's true, but then again no one is saying there won't be DLC, only that there won't be mods. There seems to be some confusion between the two but they are not the same thing. DLC is a given (as there is an option for it right in the menu) and there is a history of DLC on the 360. However mods will never happen. There is no history of it being allowed on the Xbox and Microsoft will ban the Live account of any Xbox it detects as being modded.

well. jens is the man!
Microsoft does allow some free DLC but they do limit how much and a developer can't offer all of their DLC for free.
