Considering this is going to be on the Xbox 360, it's obviously capable of at least SOME graphical updates. Don't get me wrong, I love how the game looks by default, I was just thinking..
Seeing as it's on the 360, I'm sure it wouldn't be THAT hard to modify some things, to add "HD" stuff to the game as options in the downloads section. Like HD shaders and HD texture packs.
I was wondering what people thought of the idea of Minecraft having an HD option. Just a simple discussion thread, nothing more. I know some people are dead set on Minecraft looking a specific way, but I also know some people enjoy HD textures and shaders.
Keep in mind, my idea would have them completely optional. They could have them able to be turned on/off via the downloads/mods/etc menu. The HD texture pack in my opinion should simply be a proper HD version of the original texture pack, to keep with the basic look but make it "better". As well as having bump mapping, specular, etc. You could have proper "Shiny" objects like iron/gold/diamond/water/ice/etc.
Just got bored, decided to make a thread instead of only replying to things all the time.
(And before anyone jumps at me, I know they're trying to make the game basically the same as the PC version as it updates..and as far as the features in the game itself is concerned, that's a good idea.... But I don't see why they couldn't at least have some OPTIONAL stuff to take advantage of it being on the 360. I mean, they already changed crafting to make it work better with a controller, why not go from there? And yes, I realize even if this were to happen, it'd be a LONG time before it did.)
I'm not sure if Mojang should release an actual "hd" graphic change...but hopefully, after they look at texture packs and mods and such, we may possibly get some HD texture packs.
Computers can be much more powerful than the Xbox 360 is, so why haven't they already added shader options and such into the vanilla game already, one of the things about minecraft is that Mojang has seemed to like keeping the graphics of the game simple (unless you install a shader yourself) and I don't think that is going to change unless it changes on all the versions.

dunno how i feel about it it's 8bit feel is what makes minecraft great I am gonna vote no on the grounds that HD done improperly would look disgusting keep it old school.
I think adding both HD textures and shaders would make the Xbox cry and shoot itself. Though the xbox is very powerful, I'm sure even it would have trouble running a world, HD textures, and shaders all at the same time.
Considering HD textures would make it lag horribly , doesnt sound like a good idea to me. It would be a cool option to have but im almost certain it would cause some drop in FPS .
Same texture pack with HD textures.
Check the xbla marketplace, it supports 1080p.

Do you even know what people are talking about here? 1080p is the resolution the game can be played in, not the actual textures. By HD textures, people mean the textures themselves with a higher resolution and more pixels, allowing more detail to be put into the design instead of the current default textures. The game's resolution and the amount of pixels in its' textures are two completely different things.
