I know that the xbox will be the server so when you're on the world is on and when you're offline the world is offline too. But could people sell dedicated servers to where they have xboxs running all the time and you just pay to have yours on a dedicated server?
I was wondering about this one too. In theory, with it "eventually capable" of being compatible with a PC version you would think that it could have a dedicated server, not just a Xbox running as one. There again too that is one of the major things with Minecraft is the dedicated servers at which people can come and go as they please and build a world together and you don't have to have the person with specific save file online to play. I am betting it was on of the Microsoft selling agreements (fingers crossed) especially because that would make it even more unique compared to the other indie spin off's.
I play on PC but all my friends in real life only play xbox and we play every single day together. They refuse to PC game, but we would like to play on one world only if someone (the host, me) gets off how will they continue to play on that world...

from the understanding of it...it may go down...wont know for certain until the official minecraft for xbox comes out.

It will go down. There was an article talking about people sharing worlds and the guy from 4J said that only you will have access to your map. Others will only have access to it when you are playing online.

I figured that was how it would go, I didn't have any sources on me and I didn't want to outright say that without being 100% on the info.
I think what the OP is try`n to say ,because Ive thought about it,....is I take an older 360 make a new live account for it ,set it in the other room and let it run 24/7.Just build the player for that one into a safe "box" and then log in on my reg account and join myself.
I think its doable just set up your invites including the one you want to actually play on.
As do I but my friends are all over the world, prior military.Thats why Ive put so much thought into it.HAHA even my wife lives in a dif time zone right now.
Would just be nice to "run" into them from time to time and see what they build.

Forum Admin1. Up to 8 Xbox live friends to a server.
2. 4 player splitscreen +Xbox live friends totaling 8 players.
Though I'm sure if you have a modded Xbox that may be possible. But then you'd have to connect to Xbox Live which would get you banned.
so Probably, but probably not right away.
