I don't know a lot about XBLA game development. I do know, however, that converting Java to C# isn't difficult with tools like Sharpen. So my question remains... why take the old 1.6.6 code when there are many stable releases between then and now? Even 1.7 would have been heaps better, it had pistons and redstone fixes. I'm probably sounding like a complete asshat right now, since I have little to no idea what I'm talking about, but can someone enlighten me on this?

my guess is that they want to include skins,texture packs, and maybe mods by the time it reaches the pc version. Think about it, maybe what they want to do is add those features so by the time the xbox version caught up to the pc version they will both have the same features

4J Did this for a few reasons, mainly because they had to start somewhere, and also, that is the stage Minecraft on PC was at when the porting began. Why would you change the version if you have already began porting that version? The xbox version will catch up to the PC version eventually, but it will take awhile.

me too but I'm not entirely sure they will update it to that, from what I know, they will atleast update it to match how Minecraft on PC was at "launch" (aka the "full release" or 1.0), but that'd be cool if they made it to 1.2.3 or farther.

I personaly am looking forward to the vanilla survival experience of beta versions. Let the XBLA community have the same pleasure of waiting for updates and going through the evolution of game design. Anyone who has never played before should IMO, Get the full MC treatment and love the game at every stage....... And, No cheating untill the first update

No matter the version, I am getting sick of the release date speculation....... Please stop!!!!!!! Every topic turns into a Date question by ill informed Children IMO. Just wait for a proper release date announcement. Games are supposed to be fun but so far, All I have seen with the XBLA community is a bunch of whiny kids that will ask mommy to pay for there download and cracked illegal versions posted as final product. IMO A June release would be just fine. Let the developers sort out any bugs and give us a Decent playable version!!! I can wait for that. Remember this is NOT a PC game and is coded entirely different. Plus, MS is in control not Mojang!!!!!

On the trailer for splitscreen one of the Mojang developers stated that if everything goes smoothly and there are no big delays by MS then it should be out sometime this month.
I don't think everyone knows how releasing a game works when there is no specific date. My theory is that every time they don't give a date to when something comes out, its on an important day that all countries have in common. Now, think about what is coming up that is so great for all countries.

They said it might release in March, but quickly withdrew that statement. This makes me think that they might have overshot by a bit, and that it will be released in April. But it's still just speculation.

But think of it this way, what if they have different content in store for XBMC than PCMC? Going back in time could allow them to change the future updates to adapt to the Xbox version. Maybe the Xbox version will have something the PC version doesn't and vice versa. Just be optimistic and think of this as a new beginning and starting point instead of a continuation process. I'm hoping for Xbox exclusive content personally so that it will be a sort of incentive for more people to buy Minecraft for Xbox and make it even more popular. I hope to have adventure MODE out for Xbox first I'll love using kinect to chop of creeper heads with my diamond sword! Lol, I'll get a work out by playing Minecraft Who knew?
