I've spent a lot of time playing minecraft on my pc, but due to some hardware issues it's not working properly anymore. It would be nice if I didn't have to start over from scratch on the xbox version.
it will probably happen someone will make converters if they are different package em and put em on there. so many people say things aint possible like that, and they always happen.
I think Mojang could make some cloud thing, where you can press like "Upload world" and then download it on different computers and on different consoles, using your account.
So you could play 1.2.3 worlds with 1.6? It doesn't work like that.
what you people aren't realizing, they have already announced this is going to be cross platform with the pc. You have to have alot of the codeing and way saves work be the same for that to work, so I for one belive yes, they will be transferable

Cross-platform? They said the Xbox version would be like an older version of the Minecraft we have now, I don't think that would be 'cross-platformable'.
I hope they will have cross saves, but I doubt that they will as they said that the saves on an Xbox will be tied to a gamertag, so I don't see how it would work.
Of course if they see the community wants it then they could add it, or change how saves work in a future update...
The .jar files (Java ARchive) are written in Java.
The xbox files are written in C++.
The problem is you need a program that converts one file type to the other, and vice versa. Of course there's lots of programs that can write files in several different formats and convert one from type to the other... but these are not your usual files and this will not be as easy as using Word to save a document as both a DOC file and RTF file, or using a graphics program to save an image as both a TIFF and a GIF.
The obvious solution is to rewrite the save routines on one (or both) of the Minecrafts so they can do a save in either format.
I think you already know what the chances of that happening are.

saves are not .jars and yes it will happen the file format will be different modio will convert it. modio has converted pretty much every game so it's possible. jesus i hate negative people that think they know everything like you.

Well downgrade to 1.6.6 and try and load a 1.2.3 world.
There might be something you can download to transfer files but you'll have to wait for it to be in version 1.2.3 and Minecraft on PC will update as well and Xbox version is in 1.6.6 so might possibly not happen sorry but i'll look for a file transfer thing to help you
