Okay I am writing this because iv been with minecraft since alpha and have seen it grow for a bit.
Iv made some of my own assumtions on what features will be added.
First is pretty obvious the xbox360 version will have everysingle feature the newest pc verison will have.
Mod api has been suggested on the pc edition and I have a thory on how they will integrate it to the xbl verison.
First of all they have been planning on it for a while...it seems, if you purchased the game officially through there website then you have an account name and password.
Its now called a Mojang account and they just started calling it that maybe a few months after they announced the xbl version.
Mojang.com or some section of it may have a mod list page, full of the best mods mojang has decided to let through into there data base, if your a mod maker you must first upload it to there site and they may decide it is not developed well enough to let into there servers.
I can imagine you will have to navitgate through there and find the mod you want to add to your game, most likely as simple as going to the mod and clicking "add to mod list"
You may have sign in with you Mojang account in the xbox version to get through the start screen just like pc version, then when you sign in on either pc or xbox360 it will download the new mod onto your console just like it was updating the game.
Mod api or pretty much a mod loader and could be hard loaded into the game and all it will need is a mod to actually start working.
Easy as that.
Thats kinda my theory in how the modding may work same with Texture packs.
As for multplayer it looks like there planning that aswell since they just singed bukkit and bukkit will be the server providers and use there client.
Split screen will most likely be added aswell, like it will i swear to god.
Not trying to bring you false hope but it would be a dumb career move for Mojang and Microsoft if they don't add these features to the game.
Im sorry but I highly doubt minecraft would be anywhere it is without any of these features as little as texture packs.
I heard from someone that one of the people at Minecon working with 4J Studious or something said that it was going to probably start out as Minecraft Beta 1.6
This is made evident when you see screenshots or videos of the XBLA version because there is no hunger bar, which means pre 1.8 update. They plan on starting behind the PC version and then catching Minecraft XBLA up to where it's only a month behind the PC version.

This is my theory.
That pretty much summed it up.
It's your "theory"- not fact.
No one knows anything for sure yet, and probably won't till it's released.
