Xbox ( using microphone )
PC ( using keyboard )
XBox: Breathes like Darth Vader
PC: Shut up!
XBox: What?
PC: Hello? Im trying to listen if I hear zombies or spider!
XBox: SORRY!!!!!!
PC: /ban XBox
Pretty much sums it up.
Although there might be a chance Xbox users can play with computer users, it could be...... interesting.
You will not be able to use mics in a server. That would be absolutely ridiculous.
the xbox version isn't even called minecraft... it's called Castleminer... yes, it looked to be the same thing, but i highly doubt the cross platform part because for starters, have you seen any cross platform games? can you game with ps3 bros on XBL? can you game with PC bros on XBL? can you game with PS3 bros on PC? nope. And not only that, but Windows/mac and the OS they use on gaming consoles aren't even close to each other. And lastly, (This is just what i think is happening feel free to correct me) But since Minecraft uses RAM and Java, and Castle miner uses something else, most likely using the processor more than anything, wouldn't that affect the way servers are held completely? It would change the game engine, and personally, i don't think this game needs this aspect yet. I think we need to focus on the main audience, the PC gamers.

You're talking about a different game here.

Users lack the mental capacity to have intelligent discussion, and mods lack the mental capacity to make intellegent decisions... I give up trying to share my intelligence with the world.

People tend to hate me without ever meeting me. This makes me pity said people.

I dunno... Minecraft Xbox arcade is supposed too be based off a older version. Although i believe 4j studios made a video and I recall them saying that they were planning on making it happen.
i am glad mics arent aloud, we can all avoid the screechy 6 year old:
xXroblox is co0LXx: ohhhh my gooddd oohh mmmyyy goood roblox is way funner than this!
average joe: shut up you little douchebag
xXroblox is co0LXx:hey does anyone have any free diamonds?
hey does anyone have any free diamonds?
hey does anyone have any free diamonds?
hey does anyone have any free diamonds?
hey does anyone have any free diamonds?
average joe: shut up!
xXroblox is co0LXx was killed by a creeper.
xXroblox is co0LXx: aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! (high pitch screaming)
Don't play with a screechy 6 year-old. Problem fixed.
I sincerely hope they do implement cross-platform play, because killing xbox users with my massive accuracy advantage and a bow and arrow will be hilarious.
Honestly though due to the noncompetitive nature of the game this is probably the best candidate for crossplatform I have ever considered. In the past crossplatform has always become a nightmare (in the whole two cases I can think of) because the games were competitive and PC gamers just destroyed everyone trying to use analog stick to aim. Fundamentally, anyway.
In reality though, there are a number of practical barriers to this. First, it would be a HUGE security vulnerability to the xbox. Probably vanilla servers only.
Second, if there isn't any vanilla anti-grief on the PC... and the two are cross-platform mirrors of eachother, the same will be true of Xbox games. As a result, Xbox will be an out-and-out free-for-all making establishing anything really difficult because kids will just roll in and destroy it.
Third, consoles don't do dedicated servers. So if they can join our dedicated servers but they don't bring any to the table, they're just leeching. I don't see that happening. The MC client on the PC has no way to host an instanced game.
I assume to solve these problems MC on Xbox will be a friends-only affair where you choose a map you've been playing and load it for the duration of your play and then shut things down until next time. Server latency is going to be a real consideration there, and I wouldn't be surprised if the max playercount was ~8 - ~20 tops.
