Version change option so if you want to play in beta, alpha, or maybe even infdev. Do I hope that there will be a Version change option? Yes. What about you? That's what I want to know. I really hope that Jeb adds this as an option in the XBL arcade version.
Doubt it. I think the 360 version is being programmed from the ground up in a different language. So those versions won't even exist as we saw them on the PC version. At least they shouldn't. I'd be shocked if they followed the exact same schedule of additions that Notch and Mojang did.

why would you want to go back into the alpha or beta stages? all it would do is take stuff out of the game which has been added in, which would be kinda pointless.

As for OP, nope. Because multiplayer would just have no clue what's going on with blocks that aren't supposed to exist being placed legitimately. So it's Beta 1.2, and someone makes a piston door. You walk into that chunk and WA-BAM! Crash.
