Agreed. It's really not that much of a hassle to code if they just set themselves up for future-implementations and use a lot of variables.

The question is, should all games allow button mapping?
Doesn't matter what the answer is. The reality is: it ain't gonna happen, so a few of you will just have to deal with it.
A thread in the minecraft forum isn't going to change every game developers mind.

Personally, I don't care if there's button mapping in the xbox version. I'll learn the default mapping just like I learned the keyboard mapping.

It seems like a good idea, but Minecraft doesn't have that many actions. Walk, build, jump, turn, repeat. But as builderboy64 said, this could be quite useful for lefties.

I love games that let you map actions to buttons instead of just general button use to a button. Like, some games have the "activate" button same as the "pick up" button. Good games let you map those two commands to different buttons if you want. Some even let you map actions that aren't actually assigned a button already to a button. I'm trying to remember which games did that....i wanna say it was an MMO I played.
