Button mapping. I don't understand why it wouldn't be in every game as I don't see any negatives. Games that have it are Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout (all by Bethesda, so they know what they are doing) and those are just ones I thought of off the top of my head.
For those of you who don't know what it is:
Say you are playing minecraft on the 360. The jump button is A, but you want it to be X. You can change it to that. You can change any button you want to do the work of any other button.
It stops people from disliking the controls AND even helps out a lot of handicap people who also having trouble. Somewhere online there is a petition to force all games into it but i'm not completely sure if I can post that here. It wouldn't be hard to find anyways.
So what do you think? Button mapping for Minecraft?
To be honest, this game doesn't really need it. The controls seen fine, but counter strike is going to be the first game (I think) to have FULL button mapping. It would be a nice addition, though.
Hmm, I'm not to sure about that, you have to remember, these are skilled, probably experienced coders at work here.
I think that they will have it, but if they don't then it's not a BIG loss, I think some games have set controls so that you can experience the game the way the creators want you to.
If so, it's still no real excuse. Bethesda managed to do it with every one of their games and i'm sure there's other companies who do it all the time too.
I think Minecraft already has button mapping, doesn't it?
If there's any game that needs button mapping, its Ace of Spades (its an FPS thats like WW2/WW1 minecraft, and its pretty freaking awesome) The day that Ace of Spades gets button mapping will be the day of happiness for me. No longer will my pinky finger be destroyed from having to reach over to and hold ctrl for so long just to crouch.
(If anyone is thinking I may be a kid because reaching to ctrl is a problem for me, I'll just let you know, I'm 15 years old. :tongue.gif:)

You do realize this is the minecraft xbla section? Not pc..
It is a completely reasonable and highly beneficial addition for Minecraft, and I'd be way more than surprised if an experienced and professional team of coders like the ones porting Minecraft to XBLA couldn't do something as small as this in a short amount of time.

I didn't think it was necessary to say that I wasn't referring to the PC.
I could have said, "Every xbox, xbox 360, PS3, Gamecube, etc. game should have this."
OR I could just say EVERY game like I did.
Agreed or they could just fix the map thay allready have i mean realy who needs a compass to make a map. they also need to fix it so you can scale out and locate in different areas. good idea or not?

It can't be more of a hassle than make 10 different controller layouts like most games have.
that makes code messy and hard to update.
Call of duty MW3 wasn't even finished...
What do you mean by full button mapping?
If so, it's still no real excuse. Bethesda managed to do it with every one of their games and i'm sure there's other companies who do it all the time too.
As in like every single button on the controller is mappable (apart for the sticks, obviously)
EDIT: Actually, I just went into the controls of skyrim, and ignore everything I said. Skyrim has pretty much fully mappable buttons.

Yeah, but he said EVERY GAME. :tongue.gif:
Yeah, but your first sentence.
generation. Social experiment.
Every game on xbox. (atleast that's how I took it as it's in the xbox forum) anyway most pc games have mappable buttons, barely any console games do.

But yes, games that assign random keys like "i" to functions like "spray smoke screen" are ridiculous without customization.
