Yes there will be. It would be sweeter if it was cross platform though! It's not impossible and they said it would be cross platform the question is what part is cross platform?

The multiplayer would be the cross platform bit, I honestly don't know what else could be cross platform
I thought I remembered hearing that this will be multiplayer, but you will have to travel a long distance in order to get into other peoples worlds. I could be wrong, and I don't remember where I heard this from, but that would be pretty sweet. I am definitely considering it!

Lots could be considered for that bit such as linking you PC skin to you Xbox or mods & texture packs from the PC version and of course SMP.
Also something strange I saw the if you search Minecraft on Xbox and go to it. It states there is no Multiplayer or Co-op . But I figure that's because no real info on the game has been released to Microsoft yet. Probably will be once a release date is said.

I REALLY doubt xbox gamers will be able to play with PC gamers. It has never happened in a game before so why now? It would mean less money for Microsoft because people wouldn't have to re-buy it to play with their xbox friends. If there was going to be cross-platform in that way, it probably wouldn't be for Minecraft.
I think by cross-platform they mean you will be able to share your skin or username between platforms.

Sorry to prove you wrong, but there are a LOT of games that are cross-platform and have multiplayer with the PC, this is very possible and in the official word of the game that Mojang released, it stated that the xbox will be cross-platform with the PC.
My guess (hope) is that Xbox gamers will be able to join regular minecraft servers, maybe bukkit, but that may just be wishful thinking because my pc is crap.
As others have said, Minecraft for XBLA will have multi-player. The details of multi-player such as cross-platform compatibility, server size, invitation process, and setup are completely unknown outside of vague speculations with little evidence.

Oh really now? Ever heard of Shadowrun? Or Universe at War? Or Final Fantasy XI, where you could not only play with PC players, but also PlayStation 2 players? Cross platform is definitely possible, and most likely will be implemented.
Microsoft and Mojang have said that it will be cross platform, so there's that. I'm sure you'll also be able to sign into Minecraft XBLA with your actual Minecraft account too, so you can have your skin/username.
In short, of course it'll have multiplayer. With both existing servers running and the framework of Xbox Live, there's bound to be tons of possibilities for multiplayer. I just hope that for cross platform, you don't need Gold to play on PC hosted servers.

There will most likely be a button or option in the game for that.
