the dlc will probably be pay, but who knows? I don't want to start guessing prices. I don't want to confuse anyone and I rather not let people down if they think it will be cheap. (unless they announce it as free)
If I place two iron doors next to each other (creating double doors basically)..how do I get them both to open with only one button, lever or pressure plate? Please respond soon!
ok I didn't see this listed on front page so sorry if this has been asked already (there are 56 pages after all) but I couldn't find an answer anywhere
can you access the nether in xbox multiplayer?
Yeah, to access it you need 14 pieces of obsidian. (created from non-moving lava & now moving water touching eachother)
Now that the update has been released, it is easy to confirm that the map size is 864 x 864 (only 862x862 usable, since you can't place/mine anything in the outmost blocks). I have a few questions about the Y coordinate, however:
What are the max/min values of Y on the XBox?
What coordinate is the topmost layer of bedrock?
Since I am 2 blocks tall, does the Y coordinate refer to the location of my head? Or my feet? Or the block under my feet?
I thought I was safely mining at layer 11, but hit a lava pool. Did I just get unlucky? Or was I mining too low?

when I get home this evening I will play around with it. I do believe you will ned redstone and redstone torches to make it work.
As for the portal. You only technically need 10 obsidion. The 4 corner blocks can be any block.

when I get home, I will check the min/max for y.
I initially thought layer 1 was the top most layer of bedrock, but others have said that the top most layer was 5. Will have to check this also.
If you are standing on layer 11, your head is looking at 12.
I believe lava can generate higher since I've seen surface lava pools. Will confirm this also later.

You are right, lava can (occasionally) generate at higher elevations, but since most lava pools are at level 10 and under (see http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Lava) its pretty important for me to know which is layer 10.
Obviously, if I'm standing on a rock in layer 11, then my feet and legs are in layer 12, and my head is looking at layer 13.
But the more important question is: which of the 3 is the map showing me when it says Y = 11? Is my head in 11?
If I'm reading it right, the wiki page seems to be saying that the coordinate position actually being reported is your head position:
The y coordinate works a bit differently than the x and z coordinates in terms of spawning. Typically, you do not spawn at y-coordinate 0. Instead, y=63 is the overworld water sea level, y 31 is the Nether lava sea, and y 11 is the overworld lava flood sea. To clarify: When the display shows your Y=64.62, then your feet are at Y=63 (and your legs are approximately 63.5), and you are out of the water; when the display shows your Y=63.62, then your head is in the Y=63+ block, your feet are in the Y=62 block, your feet may be wet and your head is dry. The top of the water is Y=63 (actually, slightly higher than Y=62.9). For Lava, the top of the overworld lava is 11, and if your Y is 11.62 then your feet may be burning.
The XBox is somewhat different in that it doesn't report fractional coordinates, so its not entirely clear if the above rules apply.
More specifically, the bottom face of the bottommost bedrock block is at Y coordinate 0, and the top face of the highest block that can be placed is at Y coordinate 255. The player can press F3 to see what Y coordinate the player's eye is currently at, with the player's eye located about 1.6 blocks above the layer the player is standing on. For example, a player standing on a shore of an ocean will see their Y coordinate as approximately 64.6.
But again, XBox shows an integer value, so its not clear whether it rounds up or down: I guess we could compare to sea level? (where the top of the ocean is known to be Y=63.0, the top block of water is block 62)

Sorry, i was meaning when standing that your feet was at layer 11, and you're head is layer 12.
Hello dear minecraft community,
I recently bought the game for the 360 and really love it.
It's even more fun to play it with friends (splitscreen for example), but here is where my problem occurs:
My girl friend is kind of a traditionalist when it comes to game play.
She wont get used to the modern stick layout.
Instead, she prefers to play with this stick layout:
Left Stick - Move Forward/Backward | Rotate Left/Right
Right Stick - Look Up/Down | Strafe Left/Right
It can be found in the Halo series and in the CoD MW series and maybe other games, but I noticed that most games with co-op modes nowadays offer only the standard layout.
We sometimes change our controls to those of the partner, which is always quite puzzling and difficult. I will never get used to it, either.
What I try to say is that this stick layout might make Minecraft more enjoyable for this certain group of players (I hope that was not to forward).
Have you gotten the controls to work like that? I'm trying to figure out from your post how it is even possibly to separate the movement onto the two different sticks? If I'm reading this right, and you're using the same definition of strafe, I don't see how it's possible.
Camera is set to one stick, and movement is set to another stick. You already strafe using the left stick and turn using the right stick...so I'm confused as to what exactly you mean entirely.
Do redstone torches and redstones work on all type of blocks? I've tried placing a torch under some and then powered rail or something on top and it doesn't work. I think it is a bug but want to be sure first.

Is their somewhere i can learn about the forums because im kinda new

I'm guessing you're talking about the "bug" with double doors looking closed, then when wired (after the initial powering), one will end up looking open and the other closed. I didn't see any answers to this yet, though you may have already figured it out.
You have to invert one of the paths so that they match. For some reason when the doors were designed to be opposing, one is in a constant "open" status vs. the other to be "closed". Invert the one acting funny (think it's always the right side) by adding a red stone torch in its wiring sequence. They look fine when placed, but once initial power is given, the 2nd door flips to its constant "open" status.
I read elsewhere this "open" status of the 2nd door is also one of the causes for mobs getting into your enclosed rooms at night, but it was indicated that it was not something they could (or would) fix.

Forum AdminYour Y goes to a max of 130. You can only place blocks at level 128 and below though., you have to jump to reach 130.
When you get to bedrock level, your feet is at 3(standing on 2) and your head is looking at 4. You are able to place blocks at level 3-128.
