I don't know anyone who "learned" to craft by just plopping random items into squares until something appeared. Most people just learn from the wiki and that is essentially what this is.
Also, how in the Nether would it limit your options? It has every crafting recipe there is!

The Internet is a big place, friend. I've been places you've n͍̺e̩v̦e̦̰͍͓̩ͅr̜̭̝̬̬͉̤̬ ͙ịm̖͇a͍͇̤͙̥g̤̘i͔͖̤̼̪̬n͖͔̳̬̯e̩̘ḓ͈͔̠̙͇̼̯.͎
this is a necessary change because we are not using a mouse to control aiming. If the xbox used a keyboard and mouse, this window would not have been changed.
If anyone noticed, Crafting is going to be extremely different now. No one will have to learn how to craft anything. Everything can be made for you, based on what's in your inventory. I do NOT like this. Not at all. I think it's fun to actually craft it yourself; to place the pieces yourself. That sene of joy you get placing your diamonds or whatever else. It may be just me, but I think that the new crafting method is garbage.
1. You don't need to learn how to build things like you did on the PC.
2. You don't get to place things yourself, which can in some instances limit your options.
What're your opinions on this?
If anyone hasn't seen the new crafting layout, here it is:
I Think this will be a mistake. I wanted a copy of PC version onto an Xbox-Regardless of the difficulty. Now i am not sure if i will buy the Console version.
I like this idea, but I think it needs to be executed better. There should be an option to turn it on and off in the menu. I think it would be easier to use if the cursor that selects the items to move them in the inventory should be mapped to the inv. slots instead of just a free roaming cursor.
I think they should have to first use the traditional method of crafting to craft an item, and then you could use that interface to craft it from then on. This wouldn't take away from the joy of experimenting with the crafting block, but would also make it much easier on the console players.
I may be wrong, but I really think I remember someone hearing that you still had to get the resources, you just selected the item you wanted and if you have the necessarily materials it made it for you.
I think it's a good idea, because everyone just looks up how to make everything. They almost never find out for themselves what combinations of things make what. This just enhances the crafting process.
this is... ok... but i think it would be a good idea for a toggle to turn this on and off? because i dont really like it, but, its not all that bad really

What do you expect us to do then, drag the items together using the joystick? That would be horrible.
I think this will be pretty good, especially for all the people who never played minecraft before (Shocking, but there's a few). At least they're not adding this feature to the PC version of Minecraft, and if they did someone would probably release a mod withing the first 24 hours allowing you to use the older crafting method. So basically I do think this will "Ruin minecraft"
In TM when you open up the workbench you can either put the items in the grid yourself OR you can use the "quick craft" option and (if you have the necessary items in inventory) have it make them for you. It is like a built in wiki- it shows you what goes where and you can do it manually or automatically, your choice.
Hopefully the xbox version will be the same. (For those who have played it- is it?)
Now if you diehards think that newbies should have the same "minecrafting joy" you've had by masochistically trying to craft things by putting different items in different squares by pure trial and error until the item you want is created, you're dead wrong. There is no wiki on xbox. Actually you'll come to like the auto crafting a lot. Not only do you not have to try and remember all those recipes, but while you're moving all your items around, I've already made several of them.
Finally, it think it's really hypocritical that you purists want everybody to memorize all the recipes and manually craft items.... but you have no problem using mods to make the game easier (i.e., Timber!, MCEdit, etc.).
It's the xbox version. It doesn't affect your PC version at all.
I don't see a problem here. Why was this thread even started?

Yeah I know, You can just look it up too since you're on a computer, but xbox can't, i like it too, very improved
