If anyone noticed, Crafting is going to be extremely different now. No one will have to learn how to craft anything. Everything can be made for you, based on what's in your inventory. I do NOT like this. Not at all. I think it's fun to actually craft it yourself; to place the pieces yourself. That sene of joy you get placing your diamonds or whatever else. It may be just me, but I think that the new crafting method is garbage.
1. You don't need to learn how to build things like you did on the PC.
2. You don't get to place things yourself, which can in some instances limit your options.
What're your opinions on this?
If anyone hasn't seen the new crafting layout, here it is:
It doesn't "ruin" Minecraft. It makes it easier on Xbox players. And it doesn't change anything. You still need the materials to make things, which are all the same. You can still manage your inventory...it literally changes nothing about crafting other than the way you access the interface for it, and how you "place things" in the crafting square.
Really? I think it works quite nicely myself. To be honest I know every single crafting recipe by heart and this system will make it 100X easier to craft quickly. Not to mention I don't think the system that is used on PC would work on Xbox, I personally am a console gamer and prefer the controller but there are just some things that just doesn't work as well on controller as M+KB. Does that mean they couldn't have found a way to keep the old system and still make it easy to do on a controller? No it doesn't, however the people who worked on this decided this was possibly the best system for the con controller.
If the biggest thrill you get out of the game is putting the items in the 9 little boxes, then perhaps you'd find Sudoku more your style than Minecraft.

"Don't know why you should feel that there's something to learn... it's just a game that you play."
It would be a pain to do the 'normal' Crafting on xbox.
But what about kinect? the PC system could be used for it...
Why would the PC system work better for kinect? It seems like it would be hard to select where to put the items with the kinect than with a controller.

ragnarock200: awesome, are those things with the creeper faces pistons or furnaces
Snowey1994: There dispensers
You have to remember... they don't have a mouse. Using the thumbsticks to move select each item and then select where to put it would be a pain in the ass.
I personally think this is the best they can do for a PC game on a home console. I have no complaints about it. I'm actually excited to try it out for myself.
Actually I think it is an improvement, because one of the only issues with MC is the extremely steep learning curve and the Xbox version dulls the blade of that spike
I think it was a necessary feature that needed to be added to only a console version for a couple reasons:
For one I use a 360 controller on the pc version and it is some-what a pain to place each item in the various grids, but not too bad.
Second I was a big console gamer before Minecraft and quite frankly if the Xbox community has no direction for them, or a doesn't have a way to see what they need (especially after the first, bad, impression of this type of game being fortresscraft), they will not even give it the time of day.
I don't see a problem with it, it just speeds up the game. Having to place all the blocks individually if I wanted to make lots of stairs, for example, is a real pain.
Shift + Right Click has been around for so long bro. Stairs are easy to make.
It would make sense to actually have to build that item a time or two, then it could give you the option to "quick build" it. That's just my opinion. :tongue.gif:
i played it at minecon, and the thing that bugged me was that moving around in my inventory was stupidly slow, so i dont think its bad since if i had to figure everything out AND take five minutes to make a piston id rather have auto recipe
It makes things easier? yes, but it takes out some fun to crafting, it would be better if you crafed each item once and then "learn" the recipe for quick crafting... maybe finding books or pages that contain recipes would be fun too. :smile.gif:
Personally i think its an awesome idea. I reckon it would be great if the same thing was added to pc.Or if someone made a mod that did the same thing. When i started playing i had to constantly have the minecraft wiki open until i remembered all the crafting recipes. As a server owner i also constantly get people asking how to craft things. Which is a pain and a half. This system would speed things up and allow you to build faster (especially when using a Xbox controller)
I agree, I hate this. One question - How will it exactly limit us, though? Oh my god... I can't drag... We could still craft everything you could before..
But I still do hate the new format and that you can't drag it.

It would be rather nice if you clicked that "+" Over there!

I understand you don't like this "mod", but for a lot of us this will be a god send!
