If you're expecting mods for free, YOU WILL NOT GET ANY MODS FOR FREE. Mods could be made into DLC, but they would not be called mods. If you're expecting ANYTHING free, keep dreaming. Also, mods for the PC version will NOT work for xbox, simply because the xbox version is a completely different coding language.
Users lack the mental capacity to have intelligent discussion, and mods lack the mental capacity to make intellegent decisions... I give up trying to share my intelligence with the world.
Anyone who said 'yes' on the poll simply has no idea how mods would work on the xbox.

That'd be more like a DLC, and I don't believe a XBLA game has EVER had a DLC before.. but it is Minecraft. It's probable, but highly unlikely. The modding community will always be and always stay PC.
It can be very difficult to mod a console, and trying to get mass amounts of people to do it would be digital armageddon, so I put my vote as no.
I believe those who put "yes" simply have a lack of knowledge about how these mods actually work.
Many MANY! arcade games has had dlc before. for example trials hd has had 2 dlc. castle crashers has had I know at least three. toy soldiers has had a few dlc, ect...

TONS of XBLA games have dlcs...
EX. Crimson Alince
and only indy games cant have dlc.
Minecraft is an Indy game on the Comp.
but when it hits XB it will be an Arcade game.
of course they will if they mod modern warfare 2 and all the other games why not of course a modder will get his/her hands on it and mod out every little detail
im not stuid. Im on xbox almost everyday. Not everyone wants to buy a $300 jtag to hack their favorite game then get banned for 14 years
You do not need a J-Tag to get mods and modding games wasn't why it was even made. The reason it was made was because some people wanted a dev kit but you cant really just buy them and the ones you can are very pricey. It was meant to be used as a tool to develop homemade games.
I never said you were stupid but you sure aren't helping your case. Just because you're on Xbox everyday doesn't mean you know anything about the console or how modding works. And if you use a J-Tag online you wouldn't get banned for 14 years you would get console banned and never be allowed on to Xbox Live again. But you can't even get J-Tags online right now.
It's VERY simple to mod games all you need is a save file and a modding tool they wouldn't be online mods just ones for your personal use. For instance you could give yourself infinite ammo and health in a game or give yourself a million Gamer Score on Xbox you wouldn't get banned for that but you would have your Gamer Score reset and be suspended.
many mods have already been made for arcade games and actual games alike i think that the only requirement for mods on the xbox would be the same as all of the mods that came to borderlands if any of you ever played that it just required a computer program and a flash drive to link them to the xbox and im not saying that the mods for minecraft aren't complex i'm just saying i am completely positive mods will become available through third parties eventually

I may have schizophrenia but at least I have eachother
To my knowledge, Java does not work on the Xbox 360, so mods available on PC will not be able to be transferred to the box version.
Most likely, the console version engine will be a closed source, so we will not be able to edit anything except our skins if we are lucky.
When Unreal Tournament 3 first came out on consoles, this was basically the same discussion. The PC and PS3 community was allowed to have mods as the Unreal Engine's modification system is pretty tight, but Microsoft denied mods on the Xbox, and modding is a HUGE thing for UT3, so it must have been a big deal back then.
If Microsoft didn't allow mods backs then, I doubt they will now.
they may take the rights to your stuff, but you are the third party that creates the game.
Windows phones, the XBLA they all have development done on a third party system, and as far as I am concerned Microsoft and Xbox are one in the same, sooo, where are your citations? quotes?
furthermore I disagree that Microsoft would so easily shunt a DLC capable community from affording them countless DLC packages that would earn them millions in revenue, from a third party DLC development effort. And if they do, shame on them, now I have a new project idea that will rival their companies efforts, Open Source DLC.
Im sorry to say but he is right and here is your citations here
Xbox 360 version
Upon release, the Xbox 360 version had five exclusive maps, two exclusive characters, a two-player split screen mode,[11] and all the downloadable content released by Epic already on the disc. With the release of the PS3 and PC "Titan Upgrade" patch on March 5, these versions offered the formerly exclusive Xbox 360 content, as well as other content.[12] The Xbox 360 version does not support user-generated mods, as additional content has to be verified by Microsoft before being released. It is the only version to support controllers only.
So unless every signal mod is verified by Microsoft but as most say there may show up as DLC but that will cost as Microsoft limits free DLC and for those people who want citations you can look here
Microsoft has been known to require developers to charge for their content, when the developers would rather release their content for free.[13] Some content has even been withheld from release because the developer refused to charge the amount Microsoft required.[13][14] Epic Games, known for continual support of their older titles with downloadable updates, believed that releasing downloadable content over the course of a game's lifetime helped increase sales throughout, and had succeeded well with that business-model in the past, but was required to implement fees for downloads when releasing content for their Microsoft-published game, Gears of War
OMG. You might... YOU MIGHT ACTUALLY HAVE TO PLAY THE ORIGONAL GAME WITHOUT YOUR MODS.
In all seriousness, I don't think modders would care enouto do that.
Mods are what make the game fun after you beat it.
If you beat the game but don't have any mods, you probably won't play it again because there'll be no variation.
I don't think mods will appear, but if it was possible to convert java code to the Xbox game coding, microsoft would proabably have to let them mod because nobody will be playing minecraft on the xbox once they beat it. Plus, I'm not even sure if SMP is confirmed for Xbox.
